Movie Lightsabers

I was wondering where everyone gets the lightsabers for their movies, and what the traditional length should be. thanks

I guess you just didn't see the BIG OLE' thread at the top of the list saying -

Might I suggest that you read that thread - at least the first couple of posts in it, and then try the TUTORIALS link above (in the blue title bar section above). I or another could go into a long explanation in response to your question ... but really, most of the information you seek (in this case) is pretty much there.

um...you know that when i go there different people dont discuss what they have done, which is sort of what i want

 

Then go to the costuming and props fourm. There are tons of those threads there.

Maybe then we can better direct you to the proper resources.

 

All I want to know is where people get their lightsabers if they dont build them themselves. I could not find what I wanted in the forum

There is in fact a lot of info in that thread about lightsabers.. how to get them, how to build them, how to model them, how to fake them, how to render them, how to make them glow.. it goes on and on.

You'll need to actually *read* the thread instead of just skimming through it.

I am just as guilty of that method as anyone so I am not being critical of you.

But the info is there. I used it myself.

The tips of thearetical sabers, are they pointy (as in a triangle), or are they rounded?

Yah, already done. Just didn't update my pictures.

 

Rounded, Yikes, definitly rounded. And even if I didn't pay that much attention, most rotoscoping tutorials will have something about rounding the end.
