Artist MsLanna's Bits and Pieces, *~ 12/27 Cover for Diary Challenge Story 2011

Since you asked for help... Layers are a good start, but a couple of ideas at first glance...

1) Put a black background on a bottom layer and work with the layers on 'lighten' (it'll be in the layers palette in the drop-down menu that starts with normal); then overlay a gradient layer on 'darken' that fades to black at towards the top of the city layer. Then put the star layer on top of that. Also try different blending modes (the same drop-down menu) with the faces.

2) If you possibly can, get the faces at larger resolution. And use the 'extract' feature on them with a *very* small brush-- 3 pixels or so. Any larger and it probably won't look right. (try searching help for the extract feature and see what it says about it if you don't understand what I'm saying-- it looks like you might have used it on the heads already, though).

 

Thanks ShrunkenJedi. I'll try that as soon as I'm back home. I knew there was a more intelligent way to do this.

The heads, well, they're just in alrady, I'll have to work on inserting them, but that is just so much work. *lazy* So I decided to procrastinte and do them later. There will also be some more stuff in the middle of the picture in the end.

 

I did this in a hurry and cheated on the outlines.
Still it does look better than the first picture of this thread...

R2, how to

Since Conventions are expensive, I decided to start saving up early this time. Of course, I need an appropriate savings box for that, one that is R2 shaped!

Step 1: Grab random dustbin:

Step 2: Cover it with paper mache.

Don't forget to pull out the dustbin before closing the bottom.

Because, obviously, using window colour and transparent duct tape to apply the decoration is an act of Damage of Property.

But since my lessor insists it is the way I did it and not the motif.... I can do better than that. I'll get those thingies up again without as much as touching the door.

Aww--so sorry about your door! I'd hate having to give up something that meant so much to me... Maybe you can cover the door with butcher paper and start over--that way you can just pull it off, roll it up and take it with you when you go--no damage at all...

ya. illustrating her course book is time consuming. jeez, i am finding myself doin alot more drafts for each leson than i thought i would. good thing i enjow doin it.
oh well. i geusse i'll get back working on it.

Azure - The door is still kinda there. had to use window colour for the red hand and writing and now it's much darker and doesn't jump at yopu like it did. But at least, it's still there. (I was tempted to have a Dr. manhatten for a change, but the old lady might react even worse to nekkid men. )

FalconFan - My lettor didn't speak up again. As long as others use window colour and such on their doors, he can hardly forbid it to me. Or he just admits it's the motif.
Actually, doing the course book is the easier bit, IMO. Words come easier to me than pics. That's why I got myself an illustrator.

Ducky - talking of the illustrator. So, where is your fanart thread, huh? I won't put any of your pics up here.
