MS Update [MSU] Mod Squad Update 12/5/07

Comings and Goings
We'd like to welcome our new and returning mods (back) to the MS. Votigern99 is taking the spot Spike_Spiegel vacated in the Saga forum and Aragorn327 is reprising his roll as Games mod.

We are also sad to say good-bye to a pair of really great mods. Games mod MarcusP will be stepping down very soon. Also long time moderator, Darth-Sinister is stepping from from the PT after many years of service. Both will missed. ObiWan506 is stepping down from SFF:Movies/TV but will remain as Comms Admin.

Replacement mod discussions are happening for PT and SFF:Movies/TV.

Promotions
Both Dark_Jedi_Kenobi and correllian_ale have been promoted to manager today. Congrats on the new buttons you both.

Banners and Boxes
We're still slowly changing all the old banners to include the snazzy new Google Boxes. If you have an issue with any banners that still have the old ads, please let the forum mods, DVeditor, or LAJ_Fett know so the Google Boxes can be installed.

Holiday banners and icons have been going up this week. Enjoy the festivities!

Bad Words
Allowed vs unallowed usages of the word "bitch" were also clarified. Basically it can be used in its proper dictionary definition, in quotes, to describe a fictional character or person who is not registered here (nor ever will be), or as a verb. The word may not be directed at another user in any fashion. Other bad words in quotes were also discussed. Anything on the disallowed list is still not to be posted no matter if it's in a quote or not.

You actually already could've done that before the amended rule. The only thing we changed with the 'bitch' rule is added the ability to quote literary works.

If users are ever curious why the MS makes some decisions to be slightly more restrictive than you may wish, all one needs to do is look at this thread and watch users be given an inch and attempt to take a mile.
