The MTV Movie Awards airs on Mtv Sunday..April 10th at 8pm Pacific.

 

The awards are on same day as Daisy Ridley's birthday.

Hoping for Daisy to snatch a couple of awards at the MTV Movie Awards... And same goes for TFA itself, having lost out to Mad Max in almost every category it was nominated in, at the recent Academy Awards...

Although I think Ryan Reynolds does have a good chance of getting the Best Comedic Performance gong - he was au naturale in "Deadpool"!

Well you're on a Star Wars fan site, on the sub forum that's specifically about the latest Star Wars film, which widely received very, very positive reviews

 

Welcome to the reality that exists outside the cave. A strange and terrifying place where TFA is widely and critically considered a good movie. You're obviously free to hate the movie all you want, but don't act like its a surprise others don't feel the same way.

 

The Empire review of TFA's bluray summed it up. It said that at times it skims very close to being a remake rather than a sequel, but that ultimately the warmth, the spirit and the characterisation elevates it. I don't see anything to argue with there.

In the cave I reckon there are loads of people who all have their valid bugbears, but have had them amplified and nurtured. Cynicism always feels more intelligent than optimism because of the sneering it allows people to do, but there are intelligent people who have actually co-opted other people's moans in an attempt to find as little to like as possible in the film.

I'm glad that the reviews still haven't turned into the real backlash that lots of residents in the cave have been desperately wanting.

 

Yeah, lol. I own a copy of ANH at home already and its better than the remake…lol. I don't think rehashes deserve any awards.

 

The awards will be aired on the 10th, but taped on the 9th. Wonder if Daisy will show up?

 

There are also a lot of intelligent people who legitimately think the film is good (if imperfect). I think everyone would agree that they sailed too close to what's been done on occasion, and that they won't get away with the nostalgia trip again. But this idea the proles only like it because they devour anything with the SW brand, or because of nostalgia (nothing wrong with weaponising nostalgia, but if we've also seen in the past with the PT and KOTCS that nostalgia alone will not earn a movie a free pass), or because they're too dumb to know better, while critics were bribed is as insulting as it is delusional. Which is not to deny that there are plenty of people who have valid reasons for not liking the film. But some of the cave-dwellers seem to be convincing themselves they're somehow reflective of the general consensus, which couldn't be much further from the truth.

 

But it's ok that Creed does though right?

 

Nope, I saw Creed at the bargain movie theater for 4 dollars. I wanted my money and more importantly time wasted back.
