I would like to hear a mix of a slowed down DOTF, Imperial March, and maybe some of The Emperor's theme.

It occurs to me that not everyone knows of whom I spoke in the initial post. Here is an example of the Kodo drummers:

That drumming music would fit in well with the duel. It would be cool if they had that drumming playing loud with a chorus in it, not as loud as the DOTF's one, but rather a low chant like in ROTJ.

To me, the most important thing is that they do not just "recycle" old music from the past films. Therefore, I dont want to hear anything similar to DotF or the Imperial March or anything like that.

IMO, the music in SW has been re-used too much. DotF is my favorite track of all SW music, but in general, I was dissapointed with the 2 prequal scores when compared to the OT score.

Something new, dark, mysterious, deadly, grieve-filled, sad, and angry will fit the duel. I just hope they dont already use whats out there.

How about ACDC "Back in Black" for when Anakin makes his first trip to the Jedi temple in the Vader costume? Kind of fitting, I think.

Well i've given this one some thought, and at first Duel of The Fates Sounded good, but now i'm leaning more towards no music at all, thatould be pretty cool, just the sound of lightsabers crashing and intense breathing that would be cool.

As we all know each of the duels with the exceptions of ANH and AOTC switch to 3 different levels from were the fight begins.

    So I say mix everything.

You take Duel of the Fates, mixed with the Imperial theme in Esb were Vader was using the force against Luke, and threw him out the window, and end it up with the theme from ROTJ were Luke was fighting Vader with the dark side as his ally.

I would like to have a variation of DOTF in the duel and have it mix into the Imp March at the end. I picture Anakin suddenly making his final "turn" during the battle and having the Imp March come in big and loud and he storms away in a rage (or something like that). I guess we will have to wait and see... ;)

The music for the duel will be " Duel of the Fates" On the documentaries for the music on Ep.1 Gl says that he wants something thats says we are fighting back now. He also said that the music will perfectly fall into Ep.3

Something like DOTF, but much more powerful and scarier. Then end with the Emperor's theme.

Since its going to be the best and last duel we will ever see, It has to be as or more emotional as the music played during the ROTJ duel .
It deffinatly has to have violin in it and NO hard pounding drummer, SO like I said have alot of violins in it and the choirs , but not choirs like in duel of the fates ,they are too loud , the choirs should be melodic and has to give yuo the chills and the feeling to cry right their in the theathre cause its so beutifull and you cant believe that its actually episode 3 obiwan kenobi against anakin/dart vader

though i fully expect to hear some of DOTF, i still think that if you look back to the 2 best lightsaber duels (luke vs. vader in ESB and obi-wan vs. maul in TPM), there is little or no music, especially at the most intense moments.

i think this would be a good idea again because, assuming anakin has totally flipped by this point, only hearing the sabers, anakin's anger, and every other subtle noise will accentuate the moment.

that being said, i expect for the scene to be fully scored.

Definately agree that DotF is way too upbeat for the final duel. The title fits for sure, but that's about it.

I want to hear a return to the type of music heard in ROTJ, as already mentioned. The music in the final duel there gives me goosebumps every time; very dark, very creepy and very emotional. A variation of that theme would be perfect and will set up a nice parallel with the final film

I also am a big fan of the ROTJ duel music... but GL has said that when Williams wrote Duel of the Fates, he wrote the music for the end of Episode III, so I'm sure we'll see that cue make a return for the duel, albeit probably a more ominous, beefed-up variation. I'd love to see a cross between the feel of ROTJ's "Final Duel" track and DOTF, and put in some ImpMarch and various other spontaneous moments of Williams brilliance ;)... the possibilities are endless... whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be downright awesome-sounding.

As for having little-to-no music during the duel... er, I don't know. Half the subversive texture of Star Wars is the music, and this is a pretty powerful emotional moment. I'm sure it'll be mostly scored.

Duel of the Fates, mixed with The Imperial March, and the Force Theme would be great :D

I agree with Shelby. I think that DOTF is played at key points in the prequel trilogy, where Anakins fate can go either way. I am sure that the duel will be one of these times.

I agree with YodaJeff: TheDuel -nosound would be great. But we won't get it.
DueloftheFatesII could use much chorus-sections from DotF and RotJ-battle, you know those "ooo ooo oooOOO"-pieces in RotJ? Something like that. And the Imperial March/Vader's Theme mix-in is absolute must!

Lamentably, I have to join those who suspect that the entire duel will be orchestrated. And I have to accept that most of that orchestration will follow the motif of DOTF. It is, after all, a motif - in the pure sense that Bizet had in mind.

But what I wish would happen is just as YodaJeff has proposed - an absence of music.

If well done, that would be very dramatic and quite the antithesis of the majority of movie-making of late.

Although I agree with the music being a mix of DOTF and the Imperial March, I think it should lean more heavily towards the Imperial March since it it past the mid-point of the prequels and closer chronologically to the OT.

Oh, Yeah- I was HanJabba on TOS boards-im not dead, just filtered. :)

DOTF should definitely be used!! But it should be all the more dramatic with basses and altos in the choir with drums ...and we know that GL likes to run 2 or three action sequences with Bail escorting Padme and Leia to Alderaan with the "Luke and Leia" theme... then ending up with a grand Imperial March which softens to Imperial March (string instruments)...

    Just a thought. . . . . . . .
For some weird reason everytime I listen to the Metallica - Imperial March, I picture the Duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Just the darkness of the song. . .
PAM PAM PAM pam PAMPAM pam PAMPAM pa pa pa PA papa pa Papa!!!!!!!!He he. .

i was listning to that while i was reading...kinda scary

i would also love to hear a whole new piece put together for the duel....it should express alot of fear and hate....

I think it needs to be reminiscent of the Luke vs. Vader duel in RotJ. That is great duel music, for a duel of that magnitude.

    Okay, check out mine.

Now, I always thought Duel of the Fates should be exclusive to the Darth Maul conflict in Episode I. So no, I don't think it should be used again.

Anyway, check this out. Imagine the music during the Ewok village party at the end of ROTJ SE... now, turn that theme into action music, add choir, and hints at the Luke VS Vader music at the end of ROTJ. I think if done right, my combination would be emotionally intense.
