Summary: Han muses over Luke and his impressions during adventures and triumphs and when Luke finds his sweet other half.

Luke is and has always been an optimist and idealist,
Brimming with compassion and hope.
What would be annoying in anyone else
Brings out the covert protector in me.
So many revelations and burdens he has to carry,
I wondered if his slim shoulders and gentle heart could handle them all.
His heart was like a sensitive plant, that opens for a moment in the sunshine, but curls up and shrinks into itself at the slightest touch of the finger, or the lightest breath of wind.
Yet he surprised me - surprised us all.
These just made him stronger and more empathetic,
His light brighter and unquenchable.
What surprised me most is that in his darkest hours,
He would turn to me for a listening ear.
His trust in me broke down many of my barriers.
When Mara came to share his load and purpose,
And bring joy and completion to his soul,
I was happy that he had found what I had with Leia,
A life's companion, a haven for the heart.
(I must be getting soft.)
But , I can live with it.

Those last two lines- what an utterly perfect way to end it. I loved seeing Luke from Han's POV. You described him and their friendship so wonderfully. Perfection! Beautiful piece!! Thank you for writing this

 

Very loverly! I love the relationship between Luke and Han. Everyone always laughs at the part (because it's funny!), but I love the fact that Han is willing to back off at the end of ROTJ - not only does it show how much he cares for Leia, but how much he respect he has for Luke. And I always have to laugh when they are captured by the Ewoks, and Luke just laughs and laughs at Han's frustrations. It's something I'd do with my friends.

I wish their relationship would be explored more in profic. Now I want a Luke/Han novel! Bravo!

I really enjoyed this opening. The juxtapostion of annoying and covert protector is cool.

I also liked that Han was touched that Luke, with all his burden od responsibility, turned to him as trusted confidant.
