    Nice picture, N00_Jedi!
    image

does anyone think the spy on Mos Eisley who follows Ben and Luke to the MF was a Mustafarian?

(edit - just making it a link due to size)

Fraid not, the Mos Eysley spy's race already has a backstory, but I cant think of their name. Not a bad guess though. They could be a related species though. Does anyone know if the Mustafar Sentries are indeginious to there or are they just the hired help?

    It's no moon... it's a space station.

I think the point is that, in answer to the question of whether Mustafar is a planet or a moon (the original point of this thread) its similarity to Venus without the clouds makes it likely that it is a planet. An extremely hot planet according to the most likely scientific theories.

Are there any moons in our solar system that are as hot as Mustafar? I know Io is volcanic but its surface temperature is much lower than 400 degrees.

I always thought it was a Moon considering it looks to be orbiting a much bigger planet.

Io is a bit odd, extreamly far from the sun, yet full of volcanic activity because of it's proximity to Jupiter, according to wiki, it's surface temp can vary from 90 Kelvin degrees (very, very cold) to 2000 Kelvin(very, very hot) with an atmosphere of 90% sulfur

...and for the record, Venus had a very minimal percentage of sulfurous gasses in it's atmoshphere, less than 1%, but then, even a little bit of concentrated H2SO4 is usually considered bad for you, not to mention such low atmoshpheric pressure you'd implode, and Io, I don't even think Io has a formal atmoshpere

the truth is, this is science fiction, it's no where close to real..

..as far as whether it's a moon or not? who knows what even qualifies as a moon in Star Wars? it's clearly orbiting something else, but who's to say if that qualifies it as a moon

Excellent research, theN00_Jedi. Since Mustafar is about 400 degrees, clearly Io is not very much like Mustafar. This seems to make it very clear that Mustafar is probably a planet like Venus.

except it's nothing like Venus either, if there was so little oxygen they would have imploded from the preasure difference..
...and Venus has almost as wide a temperature difference, a few hundred Kelvin difference,

Like most planets in the star wars universe, it's just some planet that happens to have exactly the right conditions to support human life, and looks nice too

Very small planet, much like Yavin IV.

Despite the planet's extreme conditions, Mustafar has spawned a number of native life-forms. Some of these have even evolved sentience. The native Mustafarians care little about the offworlder concerns on their planet. They simply busy themselves harvesting the minerals carried in the lava streams of their world. There are two notable subspecies among the Mustafarians. Tall, thin ones are known to ride the lava fleas on the cooled, crusted-over surface of lava flows; shorter, burly Mustafarians can be seen riding hovering harvesting platforms, skimming the lava rivers with heavy pole-mounted cauldrons.

There it is! Officially, Mustafar is planet with "extreme conditions." How did Anakin and Obi-Wan survive in such an environment? The temperatures are hot enough that the metal of the building starts melting as soon as the heat shields go... maybe even as hot as 400 degrees if StarWarsAgent's research about this planet is correct.

well everything says its a planet, but there is clearly a larger planet like object next to it

Well, if Mustafar's a "planet," then the Separatists obviously didn't realize when they built their fortress there that it was on a direct collision course with a much larger planet that appeared to be swallowing it up.

Or else that other object was part of a mysterious portal into another dimension. I rather like that idea... It was all cloudy and ominous-looking...

    Eh...

Or else maybe some idiot astronomer called it a "planet" instead a moon which it so obviously is, and nobody bothered to change the exact description because it's a pretty pointless topic to begin with.

Well at least they gave us the name of the giant gas planet next to Mustafar. It is Jestefad. Apparently there's another one near by named Lefrani also.

right, a very small planet, like the fourth moon of Yavin:D

makes sense, they filmed the live action portion of the movie in how many weeks? ...and it took how many years to finish the VFX sequnces??

the script probably called it a planet, and a few years into post production they probably decided a moon looked 'cooler' and never bothered to change the dialogue
