    STAR WARS EPISODE 3

In the opening crawl, we find out the clone wars have been very destructive and have greatly reduced the number of Jedi. The Jedi have discovered the main base of the remaining battle droids on Sullust. Obi-wan and Anakin have been fighting away from home for months. We also learn Padme is starting to call for the end of Palpatine?s emergency powers. Unbeknownst to Anakin, Padme is also with child?

    I. Obi-wan, Anakin, and almost a thousand Jedi attack the last battle droid producing factory on Sullust with a force of clones AND other non clone fighters of the Republic army, led by Commander Tarkin. Anakin and Obi-wan pilot Jedi Starfighters (we get to see them in attack position) in a giant aerial battle. Anakin shows off his piloting skills, and R2 is along for the ride. They end up landing and assaulting the Separatist base on the black-surfaced planet. They are victorious, but Dooku, who they expected to be there, is no where to be found. We find out from the back-and-forth between Anakin and Obi-wan during the battle that Anakin has been given an exception for his marriage by the order, because Obi-wan pleaded his case and he is the Chosen one. But he has still been kept as Obi-wan?s padawan because of it.

II. Back on Coruscant, Anakin has a homecoming with Padme, where he is surprised that she is pregnant. She tells him that she wanted to wait till he got home to tell him. He is flooded w/ emotions: happiness, guilt for not being there for months, fear of raising a child, etc. C3PO is with her. Anakin is anxious to get in front of the JC. He expects to get knighted for his efforts in the war. The JC still aren?t comfortable w/ his attachment and deny his testing. He is angry and still emotional. He tells the JC he is going to be a father, and that he can?t follow Obi-wan around like his child any more. He is really angry at Obi-wan for not imploring the JC to make him a knight. Obi-wan thinks he still needs more time as a padawan to learn to control his emotions, even though at this point he is at least the 3rd most powerful Jedi in the galaxy.

III. Angered, Anakin doesn?t accept being ?held back? any longer and leaves the order. Padme tries unsuccessfully to comfort Anakin. Anakin tells her he won?t be able to raise his child if he?s a Jedi Padawan that can be ordered around. Later, Palpatine sends for him, and we find out he has been giving him advice on how to defeat Dooku. Palpatine gets Anakin to agree to take on a special ?protective? mission in the republic to kill Dooku. Cleverly, Palpatine tells Anakin that he is the only one Palpatine believes can defeat Dooku. He also says the JC may have some feeling for Dooku still and that?s why they won?t let Anakin become a knight and live up to his full potential. Palpatine says that until Dooku is killed, his unborn child will be in danger. Palpatine tells him that Dooku might have a secret lair right here on Coruscant, and sends him off to search for his own lair on Coruscant, that we saw at the end of AOTC.

IV. Obi-wan and Yoda come to Anakin and Padme?s apartments to try and talk to him. They talk with Padme. She tells them she feels guilty about following their advice and not contacting him about the pregnancy sooner. Obi-wan and Yoda tell her they were worried it would have made Anakin unstable on the mission. Yoda also tells Padme that she is still in danger from Dooku and the still mysterious sith.

    V. Sidious speaks with Dooku about a secret batch of clones to be used to assault Coruscant itself. The plan is to attack now that most of the Jedi in the galaxy are there because they are all back from the victory at Sullust. It will also force the republic into a treaty with the separatists where they would have the entire galaxy under their hands.

VI. In the Senate, Padme and Bail Organa challenge Palpatine to give back his war time powers now that the war is pretty much over with all the battledored factories destroyed. During the debate we cut back and forth to Dooku?s separatist

    X. Anakin, who as you remember was battling Dooku during the attack, goes back up to the central part of Coruscant to find Padme. Obi-wan sees him first and says that many of the senators are dead, and there?s no evidence Padme made it out alive. The Jedi were overwhelmed and unable to protect the senate. Anakin, thinking Padme is dead, is consumed with suffering and anger at the Jedi for not protecting her. Obi-wan tries to calm him down and get him to wait for full proof, but Anakin in his rage denounces the order for its weakness. He wants unlimited power at this point, power to bring back Shmi, Padme, and his dead unborn child. He refuses to go with Obi-wan to meet up with the surviving Jedi. Obi leaves to tell Yoda.

XI. Anakin goes to Palpatine and is receptive about being his apprentice. He does however question him about being responsible for Qui-gon?s death. Palpatine deflects this by saying it was Maul?s own doing and that?s what happens when the apprentice takes on his own agenda. He said it was Dooku?s own doing to attempt to kill Padme and Anakin on Geonosis. ?I told him that both of you were not to be harmed.? He also asks Anakin if QGJ really cared for him, why did he bring him in the middle of a war on Naboo with a Sith after them when he could have stayed safely w/ Jedi on Coruscant? Palpatine also reminds him that Dooku was QGJ?s master. Anakin says that if Palpatine will train him to be the most powerful force user in the galaxy, he will obey him. We see one training session at the lair and see how the sith do things. Anakin taps into areas he never felt before in a scary way.

XII. Palpatine makes a case to the surviving frightened senators that it was the Jedi?s fault for the clones apparently turning on the republic. He points out that a former Jedi had commissioned the clones secretly in the first place. He goes on to say the Jedi are divided and have done nothing to stop the war so they are not needed and should be dissolved, along with the remaining clones. Palpatine, with the help of his newly commissioned imperial fleet and stormtroopers, the saviors of Coruscant, will rule for the good of the galaxy. He announces Anakin killed Dooku, and notes that he was only able to do this AFTER leaving the Jedi order that was holding him back all along. He declares w/ the separatists gone, the republic is now an empire, and being an empire will make sure there is no civil war again.

XIII. Made aware of the Republic?s victory and Palpatine?s announcement, Bail and Padme return to Coruscant. Tarkin meets with Bail to tell him that he doesn?t trust Palpatine?s new stormtroopers, or clonetroopers, or the Jedi, or anything anymore. Bail thanks Tarkin for leading his force that saved the lives of many senators. Tarkin said he has been happy to serve under a great man like Bail. Bail promises to sort things out with Palpatine.

XIV. Padme goes to see Anakin. Anakin is first overjoyed to see her, but Padme can tell the change in him. Anakin confronts Padme about hiding the pregnancy from him, and that the Jedi made her lie to him, and used him, etc. He says they can join with Palpatine he will support them, and they will have the power to do whatever they want. Padme says that she can't support Palpatine, and that if Anakin wants to be with her he has to leave Palpatine. Anakin gets really angry with her and accuses her of now putting her political beliefs over her love for him. She angrily counters by saying that he is putting power over his love for her. He tells her he wants power so that he will never lose her. Padme isn?t won over and leaves. He sees this as a HUGE betrayal.

XV. Bail, his senate friends, Mace, Yoda, and the other JC meet Palpatine in his offices to call him out on his announcement. Palpatine asks them to acquiesce to the new government and "save the galaxy from more destructive conflict" by adhering to his rule. They don't, and walk out to form an opposition party to the new Empire (by ?They?, I mean Bail, his senate friends, Yoda, Mace, JC

XIX. Mace, the JC, and Bail, go back to Coruscant, to proclaim that the Emperor is a sith and should be taken from power. Obi-wan stays on Alderaan to protect Padme. Bail meets w/ Tarkin, who is floored by the news that Palpatine is corrupt. Tarkin pledges his force under Bail?s command, ?one of the few men I can still trust.? But you know the Emperor is one step ahead of them. In the new senate chamber, Palpatine declares Obi-wan Anakin?s murderer [at this point, Anakin is a galactic hero from his victory at Sullust and his defeat of Dooku]. He says that the entire Order should be brought in to be tried for betrayal, deception, treason, murder, war-crimes, etc. Mace and the JC refuse to surrender to the Empire and call him a Sith at that point, and say he was in league with Dooku. The senate chamber erupts into laughter at the charge. The Jedi are doomed. They leave as crimson guards try to arrest them, but Tarkin helps them make it out. The Emperor then calls for a Jedi Purge, hiring ?those within the galaxy brave enough to bring these Jedi to justice.? Maybe we see a cameo of Aurra Sing signing up, or a 14 yr old Boba, along with many of the toughest warriors in the galaxy.

This is one of those time gaps, like Luke?s training in ESB, where we can assume it took weeks as the purge starts and Padme has time w/ Leia.

XX. Mace, Bail, Tarkin and the others escape back to Alderaan to discuss what to do. Because Obi-wan is specifically named in the Purge, he decides to go by Ben from now on. They decide that Padme should start an overt rebellion while Bail can go back to the senate and fight against the Emperor politically. (This goes along with the resistance the emperor had until he dissolved the senate in ANH). Padme?s plan is to join up with other resistance forces to the Emperor?s rule and obtain a fleet for the new rebellion that have internal hyperdrives, so that they?ll be able to keep out of reach of the empire?s fleet by jumping all over the galaxy easily. They will meet on Naboo. Padme contacts the Naboo queen. The queen agrees to have the Naboo army join this new rebellion. Jar Jar contacts the Gungans and they give their support as well. Mace calls the remaining Jedi that are scattered across the galaxy fleeing from the purge to go to Naboo and help secure the new fleet. Padme makes a tearful goodbye to Leia, who she may never see again.

XXI. Before they go, we see Tarkin contacting Emperor Palpatine. Tarkin has been under Palpatine?s command the entire time. Tarkin tells him about the meeting on Naboo. The Emperor asks if Padme had a child. Tarkin says she lost it and is sad all the time, etc. The Emperor believes it, because Padme is willing to risk her life leading the rebellion. When the good guys arrive on Naboo, they are in relatively good spirits. The Gungans have come, joined forces w/ the Naboo fighters, other fighters from throughout the galaxy (some Calamari, Chewbacca, etc.). The fleet is delivered. They feel like they can now conduct their rebellion even though they can?t take the Empire head on. The droids? memories are erased at this point for the safety of the budding rebellion. GL can use the memory erase for some humor in the last act. Maybe in a cameo here, Mon Mothma arrives with her own forces from another world to join up with Padme?s forces. They also THINK they have Tarkin and his soldiers.

XXII. At this point, the Empire attacks. The Imperial fleet arrives at Naboo, w/ tons of stormtroopers, TIE fighters, the bounty hunters that signed up for the purge, etc. This is the Armageddon of Ep.3 that McCallum talked about. Tarkin reveals his betrayal, and you have the new Imperial fleet, stormtroopers, and Tarkin?s fighters vs. the Rebels (naboo fighters, gungans, other rebel forces, last of the jedi). Battle takes place in the space above Naboo, the skies of Naboo, and on the surface. Most of Naboo ends up completely decimated. The Gungans, led by Jar Jar, fight bravely but get wiped out. Jar Jar dies. YEAH!

    XXIII. The Jedi sacrifice t
