My fascination with the end of the world

    That movie scared the pants out of me. I could not sleep for the longest seeing in it's first run.

    i found the book better than the film, but the whole premise of the story; a disease escaping from a laboratory and being spread via air travel is an entirely believable concept. the bird flu comparison is a good one. it would have to be something more highly contagious than bird flu to bring about the events in the stand, but the premise is sound.

    The Stand. To this day I end up having horrible nightmares whenever I even peek at it.

    Well it is one of the better done Stephen King stories on screen. If the film freaks you out, don't read the book, unless it's already too late. ;) Just that one scene in the holland tunnel is enough to make you go screaming off. ;)
    It's scary to imagine yet it all seemed so believable, whole battle between good and evil for what's left of humanity.

    Course Omega man gives me nightmares for different reasons. :p
