    ~~****Happy 2004****~~

    Okay, this is just a collection(yeah i like those) of cute, angsty mother-daughter moments in the solo household.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Mother to Daughter
    Characters: Jaina Solo, Leia Organa Solo
    Genre: Drama, Angst
    Rating: G
    Disclaimer:I don't own these characters, and the poetry is by Sara Teasdale. If only I was getting paid!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Slam! Jaina Solo rushed through the den of the Solo apartment.

    "Jaina! You come back here!"

    What now? Why can't everyone leave me alone?

    Turning abruptly, she marched hotly into the kitchen where her mother was.

    Leia Organa Solo stood hands on hips, pursing her lips angrily.

    "Jaina Solo! What is the matter with you? You know the rules! No slamming doors!"

    Jaina stared long and hard at her mother. Leia had tried so hard hard to be there for her, but her duty's to the New Republic kept her busy. Jaina didn't nessecarily hate her mother for it, but...

    Hot tears rolled down her cheeks, but her eyes remained as cold as ice.

    "Don't look at me like that!I want to know why you slammed that door, and why you are trying to send me to the fire side of Ryloth with those glares!" Leia leaned over the counter, a stray lock of hair falling into her face.

    Why does she do this to me? Oh, why does everyone do this to me? I want to die! She angrily swiped at the tears fastly falling, but gave up when there were to many.

    Leia's expression softened. "Oh Jaina"

    She walked around the counter and wrapped her fifteen year old daughter in her arms. Jaina stiffened but did not pull back.

    "I'm sorry Mom." Jaina mumbled.

    Leia's shirt was becoming wet faster than you could say "tissue".

    "Honey, what is it? Do you want to talk?"

    Jaina shrugged.

    Leia pulled up two chairs, and sat Jaina down.

    It was silent for a moment.

    "Why did he have to leave? Doesn't he care? He just got his bags and left. It's as if he doesn't want me!"

    Leia reached for her daughter again but stopped. "Oh, Baby! I'm so sorry!"

    To Leia's understanding, Zekk had left early that morning to continue his bounty hunter training, rejecting his invitation to stay at the praxeum.

    Jaina looked at her mom with pleading eyes that broke Leia's heart. "Jaina, thats life Baby. I'm sure he'll come back!" Jaina wanted more than that to heal her wounds.

    "Here," Leia continued. "Let me tell you a poem my Grandmother Lynia told me when I was your age:
    No one worth possesing,
    Can be quite possesed.
    Lay that in your heart,
    My young and angry dear:
    This truth, this hard and precious stone,
    lay it on your cheek,
    let it hide your tear.
    Hold it like a crystal,
    When you are alone
    And gaze in the depths of the icy stone.
    Long, look long will be blessed,
    No one worth possesing,
    Can be quite possesed.
    "

    The silence that followed was peaceful, each woman burried in there toughts.

    "Yeah," Jaina said, barely a whisper." I think I get it! It means you can't hold onto the person you love forever, because if you truly love them, you have to let them go!"

    Leia nodded.

    "Thanks mom."

    "You're wel-" Leia was cut off by her daughters arms wrappign around her, squeezing her in a fierce embrace.
    " 'No one worth possesing , can be quiet possesed.'" Leia whispered.

    Jaina pulled back, wearing that famous Solo half-grin. "Of course, it doesn't mean I can't go after him!" With that, the teenager walked back to her room.

    Leia chuckled, going back to the forgotten food. Trust Jaina to ruin a sappy moment. Just like her father

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yay! okay so how do you like it?
    Okay, I know they have those sliding doors, not doors you can slam, but it added some reality.
    I've DEFINITELY been there... *sigh* Mother/daughter angst...
    I like how you portray that they can fight and all, but then also actually get along part of the time...
    The mother/daughter relationship between Leia and Jaina rings true. My mother and I have not always seen eye to eye, but she has always been there for me. Good start! Hope to read more moments in the future.
    NO MOMMY! Part 1
    "No, Mommy, no!" The four year old wailed.
    "Jaina Solo, sit still!" An exhasperated Leia said.
    "Look at me Mommy! I'm ugly! Like a 'slamiri!" Jaina Solo scowled at the angry, brown eyed girl in the mirror.
    Leia had insisted upon braiding Jaina's long, usuallly matted hair for a diplomatic dinner. Jaina, on the otherhand, simply refused to have her hair wrapped up.
    "You are not ugly!" Leia assured her. Lowering her voice she added, "And you will wear your hair this way."
    "But m-" Jaina was cut off by a warning look.
    Stupid poopey hair! Why do i have to have it this way? Why does Jasa get to have short hair?
    With a few last painful tugges, Leia finnished the braid.
    Jaina jumped off the chair immediatly. "Jasa! Jasa, let's play!"
    Jacen Solo stepped out of the fresher, wearing a mini-tux, and a tie.
    Matching brown eyes full of suprise stared.
    "Your hair Jaya! It looks like Mommy's!"
    Jaina scowled. "Yeah, well I don't like your 'xedo! You look dumb!"
    "Jaina! You appologized right now." Leia scorned from her place in front of the mirror. "Jacen, I think you look absolutly handsome!"
    "Sorry." Jaina mumbled.
    Not at all phased by his sister's insult, the younger twin shrugged. "Well, I like it! Daddy says I lok grown up!"
    Getting bored of the conversation, Jaina walked to to door of her mother's room. "C'mon Jace! What we waitin' for?"
    "Hold it troops!" A dashing Han Solo interjected.
    The two slumped. "Jaina, aren't you supposed to have your dress on?"
    Leia got up, and pulled something out of the closet. "Yes, but I was giving myself a break."
    Han and Jacen shared knowing glances.
    Grabbing Jacen's hand, he said, "Let's go Jacen. Let's let Mom put Jaina in her dress."
    "What 'bout Jaina?" Jacen said, looking back at his pleading twin.
    "She'll be fine." With that, the door slid shut behind him.
    There on the bed, lay a little pink dress, with all the lace in the galaxy.
    "D-dress!"
    Leia nodded, and Jaina swore she saw little horns poking out of her mother's head. Nah, it's just her hair.
    Stealing herself, Leia said, "We have to hurry Jaina."
    "Nooooo!" The reply was so loud, Leia was sure the guards would be there in mere seconds.
    "Jaina! You listen to me!" Leia said, her face red with with anger.
    "No!"
    The war had begun.
    Good one, and in one of the thrawn trilogy they mention that the solo apartments actualy have regular 'antique' hinge doors like we have.
    Maybe have a young Tenel Ka on Hapes with similar complaints in a side plot ?
