Steve Stanley is always saying his work is garbage/trash, well apparently mine collects trash now!

Nicki and I went to my nephew's Christmas band concert at our old high school (which is now the middle school) on Tuesday night.

As we were leaving we went past the main staircase and saw that the mural I did when I graduated (1985!) was still up there, and attracting trash. Both of us hadn't been inside the school in years (Nicki is SHS C/O '91). The mural looks a bit scuffed and scratched at the bottom, but could be easily touched up. I may give them a yell later in the year to see if they would like me to.

All the other murals I did and others that came after mine got painted over recently, but that one is still there 23 years later.

Was fun (and weird) to see how much has changed at our old school, and how much has stayed the same.

That is too cool that it's still there! (Even if it is "trashed", LOL.)

It was a real kick to go around the school with Nicki. Like our date at the football game there, we kept saying, "Hey, that's new- that's still there, that's new, that was the old ________, that's new..!" Kind of funny that we both went to high school there, and then hook up 20+ years later.

I think they are trying to confuse us old people. It was disorienting when we were trying to navigate through the school when some landmarks are the same and others are gone.

I walked by that mural every day for 4 years, so it's kinda neat that I'm now dating the guy that painted it. A few years later. :p

Yeah, just enough was changed to make it confusing, and just enough was the same to make it really surreal! Walking down that hall with all of the office windows and doors gone on one side and all the rooms changed on the other made it feel like I was walking to that "Mirror-Mirror" Star Trek episode, or one of those episodes where they go thru time and one thing changes the future![face_thinking]
