Okay guys, new idea. A channel for us is good, but I think we should choose a channel that's less...biased. If no one has any complaints, I'm going to register #FF_Oceania on the same network. You can still access this channel through JP's java applet. In theory, the channel should stay open once it's registered (though I'm not sure how this particular server works). Just so JP doesn't feel too left out, myself and him will both have ops in there, along with Shara if she ever decides to drop in.

Ah i got it to work.

I accessed it through MIRC. Last night when i tried to use the browser, it crashed my computer!!!!!

 

Didn't crash it, but it didn't work for me at all. I had to use mIRC also.

 

Anyone else coming?

Hawk man, it would be cool if you could keep my chat room as the default FF channel, I like the piccies and the animations

You can change the settings and name but

 

why not try Austnet? that is the server people use the most

 

JP, as I said, people can still use your IRC java applet to access this channel, so they can still see the pretty pictures.


A move to a different server is on the cards, but it all depends on demand for it.

 

DALNet anyone?

 

Like I said, I really can't be stuffed setting up a new channel on a different server right now, so maybe a little later.

Sorry to do this to you again guys, but the usual server is playing up. Myself and a couple of others have decided to move to DALnet, as it is nice and stable. Just to get an idea from you guys: how many of you would want to stay on the original server, accessible through the java applet on JP's site, and how many of you want to move to DALnet, which is more stable but only accessible through IRC (unless someone wants to build their own java applet for it)? The channel will be running on both networks for the time being, but IRCStorm.net is playing up so I can't guarantee it will work.

 

How about we move to irc.stratics.com ? It has servers all over, never goes down, I know cause I was an admin there for 3 years til recently, but I still admin the starwars chans.

There are java applets for it located here.

It is also secure, everyone elses IP looks like your own so noone can get your IP and use it for hacking etc.

 

That's a possibility too. I'd prefer to move the server to one that's accessible to the greatest number of people, so a java applet would be handy.

We hold regular chats with many of the game companies, allowing the public to ask questions of the developers.

I think we should move to Stratics, and don't worry about pings, on the FRWS server, I get 1-2ms

 

We are also up 24x7 and have a reponse team if necessary for server outages, which are incredibly rare
