It's the God Is Not Dead of children's books! Parodied in The Onion today, I've bought a copy to read aloud to my child after we finish reading our illustrated Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

 

Well, at least they know their target audience.

What teenage girl dresses like their grandmother?

That's the thing with conservatives, their taste in fashion of how they want kids to dress is as outdated as their views, like how in Jack Chick tracts kids dress like how they did in the 1950s, even in more recent tracts.

 

The dad totally has a child molester mustache.

 

He's way too happy to have his hand in that pocket.

 

I want to know how he gets his hand in his pocket behind his holster. That just strikes me as uncomfortable, unless the holster is just flopping about, which strikes me as unsafe.

It's drawn that way because the illustrator is pretty terrible.

 

The father looks like a butch lesbian with a fake moustache. Which would be an interesting twist. Pro-gun, pro gay marriage.

Another mark against this book: Stephen Colbert talked about this book on last night's Colbert Report, and they showed actual excepts from the book, which were done up in what appeared to be Comic Sans.

Really? Well, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised.

 

The aesthetics of that font aside, I'm fairly certain that's the least of that book's problems.

 

I'd ask who the hell would write a gun book for children, but I guess that's a redundant question now.

 

But still, **** Comic Sans.
