Hey guys its the one you hate, lol

Anyway, yesterday I decided that I need to learn to model, so here i am today posting my first model. Took me about 2.5 hours or so to make, mabe a little more. This isnt a render, its a just a screen grab.

lemme know what you think. (this is the lower rez version, more polygons and detail will be added later)

Yeah, i did all of it in zbrush, i dont know why more people on these boards dont use it. My goal today is to make a dragon.

Maybe because they don't have it :)

I really want to learn it, I've seen so many amazing works done with it. Your model looks good, but I'm going to make the same crit that is done on many zbrush models : it's too smooth

This model looked great,Brandeni. I would like to download one of these programs. I am a professional sculptor, but I don't often do computer modeling. What program is most user friendly? Zmax looked very similar to working with clay, from the tutorials. Is it harder than it looks?

Also, if I can't use software effectively, I may need someone to do some digital magic to my LCC4 entry. I can't really pay anything, but hopefully if I can impress a good animator "I'll also do what I can to make physical creature models and props and lighting, photograph the environment, take test shots of sets with reflective spheres to assist the computer animator, etc.) Anyway, if interested, write me at valdroni@comcast.net . Even better if you live in the Kansas City area, or know a modeler who does. I'm kind of a "noob", so someone tell me if there is a better place to go to recruit people like this.

Brandeni, I just signed your guestbook and saw your demo reel, and HOLEE-CRAP, that spider-tank and nightcrawler effect were very well done! If you want to see my project in the future, which you can completely refuse to do, I won't be offended, please contact me. I'll try to give you the best real world props and effects and accomodate your end of the process as much as I can.

here's some creature and mechanical stuff of mine. First 3 are Ghostbuster stuff -- . http://home.comcast.net/~valdroni/Gulper_Ghost_bright.JPG

also, the link below is my first fan film, using photoshop and props.

I'd really like to combine talents.

Great work, you will go far.

    Yup, looks real good.

ZBrush is so cool... I'm saving my pennies for the new version that's out. The flexibility and detail it offers is amazing. Anyone who's been to their site knows what I'm talking about.

Usually when you are working with something organic... you want it smooth. Either way, it doesnt have to be smooth, i could have gone further to add the next lvl of detail, but i had no desire to do so. When my other computer is done rendering something i can grab a screeny of the head of the the dragon i made yesterday, way more detailed then the other one.

Here is a quick screengrab i took yesterday afternoon when I modeled the dragon, did the whole entire body in bout 3 hours, i will post a full body shot later mabe. I never added the detail on the nose but everything else is decent I think. Specially for the second model I have ever made in my entire life, lol.

I like the dragon ya got there, especially because of the way you added the texture to the model, on the model, rather than waiting for bump maps and texturing. For a Zbrush model, that's pretty good, especially if it only took you 3 hours. The front of the face itself is a little too smooth. If you added a little more texture like you did up the neck, it would look a lot better. Other than that, I can't exactly find anywhere else to criticize. Good job.

I was looking into z-brush the other day as i've been having problems doing organic modelling in 3DS Max 7. But My mate whos just learning maya said he would let me use that for awhile. He said the was a sculpt tool in there, kinda like Z-Brush. :)

Z-brush is very unic and I don't think any other software, even with plugins, can equal it when it's about sculpting. Maya is a classic polygon modeler. Maybe your friends talks about displacement mapping in maya. One the particularities of Zbrush is it can display millions of polygons, which allows detailed sculpting
