Oh, and jasman, I disagree about people posting topics with their first post... it definately isn't wise, but they usually aren't "babbling insults everywhere." They may be wanting attention but it doesn't mean that they are causing trouble. Most of them should be considered newbies but not NEWBIEs.

I did post my first post as a new thread. I don't know what the response will be (Just requesting prequel pictures of Coruscant). I don't think anyone will reply to it, nor did I post it as an attention getter. It was just something I needed to ask.

I thought I'd bring this back up again so the
new folk here see the distinction between
    "newbie and N.E.W.B.I.E."

Jasman, I also disagree. I am a new member, and my fourth or fifth post was on a new topic, but it was a legitimate question about Star Wars that I really wanted answered by people who I thought knew Star Wars the best... you guys. (Okay, I admit, a few posts before that I started a thread about "River Phoenix and other 80's movie stars," but hey! I was excited because it was his birthday and all... And if I were to get labeled a N.E.W.B.I.E. because of that.. well, then, I would rather leave than to have conversations with such judgemental people.)
When I first came here about a week ago, I was actually surprised so many people talked about "newbies" and "oldies". Why make that distinction? Can't you just be open-minded and take everyone for what they say alone? I realize some newbies leave after a couple of weeks, so you figure, what's the use of paying attention to them now, until they prove themselves? But, I can tell you one thing, the only reason I would ever feel like leaving is because there is such a distinction between new and old members. I'm already getting fed up with all the talk of it.
That's just my humble opinion of course. I guess you can go on to categorizing me now.

It depends on how much you post, styx-boy.
I was a newbie for a long time because I
    didn't post a lot.

And Fendelin, you make a good point; I
read the threads that pique my interest; doesn't matter who they're started by.
    N.E.W.B.I.E.s are old and new members alike;
they post crap because they want attention,
not because they're interested in discussing things.

Anyway, it's late, and my brain is now offically mush,

Listen, even though I am a newbie doesn't mean I am stupid I am intelligent actually, but not a nerd. Anyway I am not that much of a newbie at this anymore I have been posting all my topics in "The Phantom Menace". I never knew about this,,, Ok? Now anyway I Am a sweet girl I know a lot about computers and I am 13. My brother knows a ton about this website and isn't a newbie. So I checked out this website and I liked it. So anyway if you have a problem with me than well say what you want, but I am telling you the truth! Thank you! redface.gif

thanks for that. i never really knew what people were talking about when they used the term "N.E.W.B.I.E.". i figured it was different from newbie, but i never bothered to ask.
i think i waited until i was a Jedi Knight before i started a new topic. i think i thought that was how it was supposed to go.

I'm glad this one is still around, and flattered that it's in the archive, too.

You're welcome, opium; I'm glad it helped you out.
