The Force.Net is reporting that in early April the Smithsonian will showcase the full-scale thirty four-foot long Naboo N-1 starfighter used in The Phantom Menace. It will be at the Smithsonian's Art and Industry Building in Washington D.C. We will definately have to have a party around this.

Oddly enough, they don't have any info posted on SI's site, not even under the "new exhibits" section. Guess I'll have to call them tomorrow and ask...

Maybe the folks from DC and Richmond (the Moisture Farm Co-Op) could meet up at the Smithsonian one day? Feel free to chat about it over at the Co-Op if you'd like...www.moisturefarmcoop.com

Well, I just called the Smithsonian's information line and they don't have a definite date for the exhibit yet. The guy said "sometime in April", just like starwars.com did...

Well, last time I checked the Smithsonian website (www.si.edu), they didn't have anything on this. Starwars.com had a piece on it in their news section, but it wasn't that descriptive.

As soon as more info becomes available, we can get this thing coordinated.

The Moisture Farm Co-Op is planning a group outing on April 28th I believe. Mary Joe from Blue Harvest Magazine may be in attendence. We are in contact with her now. Keep watching www.moisturefarmcoop.com for the details. We should have something up on our site about it relatively soon. We'd love to meet up with the DC fans!

Okay, here's the lowdown, straight off the Smithsonian's website:

Star Wars: The Art of the Model (new title)

    April 26, 2001 - June 24, 2001 (new opening & closing dates)
On view is the full-scale, 34-foot, yellow and chrome Naboo starfighter model used in the making of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, along with text, images, audio-visual components, and an interactive kiosk that detail the creative process of filmmaking.
