Name that starfighter!

OK, what the heck is the starfighter in this picture:

Is it the Corellian Lancet from Cloak of Deception? A predecessor to the Jedi Starfighter? I've asked the guys at WotC, and none of them really know. Anyone from Dark Horse on these boards that can identify it? Thanks.

Looks like a cross between the N-1, Jedi Starfighter and a bongo sub to me.

 

No, it's not the Jedi Starfighter. The Jedi Starfighter is much more angular.

lucasarts website has that pic or one like it. It's not a spoiler in the slightest.

 

As for the Jedi Starfighter, it was in the Making-of Episode II Part II video from TOS, and it was officially announced with that pic this week from LucasArts. SO this pic is official.

OK, well, whatever, it's not a spoiler, but really, I'd like to know what the heck the starfighter in the comic Jedi Quest #1 (pic posted above) is.

Maybe it's an older version of the Jedi Starfighter... It could be, IMO... At least, they have some similitudes.

 

It looks like a horseshoe crab.

 

According to Pop Mahn, the JQ illustrator, in an interview, "I was given a lot of room with the likenesses. At first I toyed with the idea of doing the likenesses, but then I saw what other creators were doing with the license. There really is no pressure to do the likenesses at all." So it's probably his version of the Jedi Starfighter.

Perhaps it's a predecessor to the Jedi Starfighter. I would love to know for sure, though...I wish I had a way to get in touch with the those guys at DH and ask. The description in Cloak of Deception sounds awfully similar to the pic of the starfighter above, though.

the engines are all wrong in the back, and the cockpit is swept forward

whereas the Jedi starfighter has a swept back cockpit, and concealed engines underneath

has to be something else, its not like the guy just remade the Jedi starfighter

 

It looks to be based on early TPM art for the Republic Cruiser or something...

Moridin, I know that your RPG site made up some new stats based around that art, if you can remember what I'm talking about. Although this was a larger transport or capitol ship.

 

Yeah, I've used concept art for a lot of the stuff on my site, especially starfighters. However, nothing is at all similar to this. That's why I'm so stumped; it looks like a cross between the Jedi Starfighter and the original concept art for the droid starfighters. Anyone else have any ideas on where I can find out an Official answer?

 

Saying that thing looks like a jedi starfighter is like saying jedi starfighters look like A-wings. All they have in common are similer color schemes.

Yes, it looks a lot like the concept art for the TradeFed droid starfighter. They made an action fleet toy out of it and it looks very similar. I'll try and find a pic.

Here. I couldn't find the real conceptual art anywhere, but this toy was based off it. Alpha Series: Droid Starfighter.

Pretty cool line of toys too. I consider then EU ships. They're fuun to play with sometimes.

 

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Man, I wish I knew what that ship was! I might just have to make stuff up, but I hate doing that when it's something real.
