    Another thought occurs:

    Remember how in Contact, they get told their SETI funding will get cut off, and then Jodie Foster suddenly discovers that signal of intelligent life from the star Vega?

    Maybe it's like that?

    Its on a Sunday. Weird. They'll probably cancel it after they figure out one dude farted and altered the results of some test or the rover malfunctioned or whatnot. They tried this last year and I don't think they ever announced anything that I can recall.

    If that happens, I hope they'll be honest about why they cancelled, including the outing on national TV of the dude who farted.

    It would be a nice break from all this shutdown ****.
