hahahaha now its my turn to trick you with the topic!

actually, no, I have something relevant.

WIP IMAGE. CLICKING DOESN'T WORK, YOU NEED TO DRAG/DROP OR COPY/PASTE

created with Maya 4.0 SubD's. rendered in standard Maya renderer. the texture is just something i whipped up for a quick render, obviously not finished. She still doesn't have eyelids yet.

when i finish it, maybe BellyUp can record something I can lip sync it to?

Hmmm, coming along very well. Keep us updated. Now watch all these people come asking for it. Hehe.
"Can I have your model for my fan film???"

    Then it will be:
"Well, I can't animate it, can you do it for me???"

    :p

    But it does look great.

Oh wow, can I have your model for my fan...oh wait never mind. :D

Love the skin texture. Those eyes (or lack thereof) are freaking me out, though.

Well why not? There was no actress playing Simone. She's fake.

i think so, at least for now. i won't be doing any large, 1-man projects for a while, in order to build my portfolio, etc. etc...

the problem was, my skills advanced, so that the helmet was worse than the cuirass, and the cuirass was worse than the head, etc. etc... i'm just going to do stills for a while, and maybe some fanfilm fx on the side.

    okay i made some eyelids.

the left image is ansiotropic, the highlights help me find areas in the model that aren't smooth. the left is lambert.

Can you tell me a little bit about the technique you used to create it? In Lightwave, the technique I'm familiar with requires point by point editing to create a subdivision surface, which is then smoothed and refined. It's really hard to do and I'm always looking for new ways of doing.

check out the stage by stage pics of the face i used on marathon... you outline the eye, then the lips, connect those, build the cheek, build the bridge of the nose, then the skull, then the eyelids, then the nose, then the lips, then the cheeks and chin, then neck...

and it all starts from a simple quad.

check out the link on the main page of pixelito|animation called "le creacion de jeanne d'arc" and click on the head modeling tutorial.

face by face is the way to go! i will never box model again!!

Thanks for sharing some insight. This looks very much like the way I do it in Lightwave. I also start with an eye outline and build 4 point polygons from there.

Looks great Pixelito. Was it this tutorial that you followed? The mention of starting with the eyes lead me to believe so :)

That's almost exactly the same as the Lightwave tutorial I found. I don't remember where it is anymore, though.
