Who else has a nation there? I've just started on this a week or two ago, and I'm having fun. :D My nation:

    The Empire of Shadowsun
    "We're going to get you."

    UN Category: Corporate Police State
    Civil Rights: Unheard Of
    Economy: Thriving
    Political Freedoms: Unheard Of

    Location: the Pacific
The Empire of Shadowsun is a very large, devout nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 103 million are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The large, corrupt, moralistic, pro-business government is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Defence and Religion & Spirituality are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 11%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Arms Manufacturing, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

Foreigners are treated with great suspicion, books are considered luxuries only available to the incredibly wealthy, guns are banned, and torture is commonly used to extract information from suspected criminals. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Shadowsun's national animal is the raven, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the knucklebone.

Shadowsun is ranked 1030th in the region and 22,992nd in the world for Largest Agricultural Sector.

I just created my country a little bit ago:

      The Empire of Archallad

"Good and Evil do not exist."
    UN Category: Psychotic Dictatorship
    Civil Rights: Rare
    Economy: Reasonable
    Political Freedoms: Outlawed

    Location: The North Pacific

The Empire of Archallad is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, corrupt, moralistic government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 28%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Archallad's national animal is the snake, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the evek.

It just gets boring after a while. The same issues kept coming up over and over. Though, I understand it is hard to come up with new ones. :p

So, on my evil nation, I just got the following two issues:

    Violent Violetists Demand Blood!

    The Issue
Members of a new weird religious cult, called the Order of Violet, ask for the government to appease their mighty god by offering Her a sacrifice of the human variety.

    The Debate
"What have we got to lose?" says religious freedoms advocate Johan Fellow. "Just cut up a few homeless folk- it appeases this group's bloodthirsty Goddess, gets rid of unsightly bums that drain welfare, and everybody goes home happy."

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

"We must go much further than a few beggars!" argues the overzealous High Member of the Order of Violet, Fleur Shiomi. "You must pass a law that everyone?s first born child must be slaughtered, on live TV if possible. Think of the viewing figures!"
    [Accept]

"You aren't going to listen to these whackjob Violetists, are you?" comments Faith Dredd while leading a prayer group. "Human sacrifices! Surely we're too civilized to permit such barbaric practices! These lunatic fringe groups should be outlawed, their leaders should be executed!"
    [Accept]

"Who's being a lunatic?" retorts George W. Barry of the Shadowsun Humanitarian Society. "I agree that these practices ought to be outlawed, but instead of sinking to the same level of these fanatics and killing our fellow people, why not simply start a re-education program? Even the worst person can be rehabilitated into a useful member of society, with enough time, care, and lots and lots of funding!"
    [Accept]

    And

Cannibals Demand to Taste What Shadowsun Has to Offer

    The Issue
A coalition of tribalists, health experts, and civil rights proponents have recently suggested legalizing cannibalism for consumers of willing would-be meals.

    The Debate
"I see absolutely no problem with people digging into each other at dinnertime, so long as everyone is willing," Bianca Wong, the editor of the monthly magazine 'To Serve Man', quips, "Not only does it solve hunger problems and create jobs, but it also adds variety to Shadowsun's sometimes dull palette."

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

Civil rights leader Jack Silk came out publicly for moderate pro-cannibalism legislation, commenting, "While it may strike some as a crude, even evil practice, our ancestors have practiced cannibalism for years. If we create a government organization to strictly regulate and grade all human meat prior to its arrival on the market, we can ensure that respect for diversity is maintained while health concerns are also allayed. And instead of killing average people, why not make being turned into snack foods a post-mortem option? Like donating your body to science!"
    [Accept]

"You're all absolutely out of your minds!" exclaims Chastity Shiomi, head of Shadowsun's largest health-food manufacturer. "It's immoral, it's unhealthy, and it's disgusting. Not only are these so-called 'dietary rights' activists leading us down a dark path of sin, but right into a marketplace with yet another product that's almost as bad as beef!"
    [Accept]

    I love being evil. :)

Yeah, that'll make you realise it's a rapidly mind-numbing game based on an even more mind-numbingly bad book.

imo it was just very poorly written, didnt flow well, and i just felt like the author was trying to hard to take his own spin on 1984 or something to that tune. Granted i only read the first chapter, so the rest of the book may be much better, but i didnt think that it was based on the first chapter alone...

Ah. I think that it was more of an attack on commercialism, more so than 1984. It read pretty fast, and I was more interested in the story than the technical grammer details.

About the game ... I think I've tried it before. That, or it looks familiar because it's not too different from the other nation-management games online.

Heh, actually, it reminds me of SimCity. :p

    The Oppressed Peoples of NataliePortmanLand
    "We Will Crush You ALL!!!!!"

UN Category: Father Knows Best State
Civil Rights: Below Average Economy: Good Political Freedoms: Few

    Location: the Pacific
The Oppressed Peoples of NataliePortmanLand is a tiny, pleasant nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The medium-sized government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 21%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small but healthy private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Book Publishing.

Crime is a problem. NataliePortmanLand's national animal is the oliphant and its currency is the natalius.
