Gay is a ridiculous salary dump. I do not say this solely as someone who doesn't want him playing for a division rival that we face multiple games a season. That part is, in fact, beat. But, the motive behind the move is just vexing. New ownership hears the public chant of "Will you spend money?" and so clears not only financial space... but also the team's best chance at success...
Their 3rd win a in row that night, Kobe with 11 assists, and Earl Clark shined with a 20 & 12 game. But of course, this being the Jekyll & Hyde Lakers, last night in Phoenix... 27 points scored by Beasley, the Suns outscoring the listless Lakers 29-13 in the 4th (the Lakers blowing a 15 point lead in the process), Gasol playing like **** in the 4th (after complaining* about getting benched in the 4th in the previous game), and Kobe missing that easy layup with about 23 seconds left to go (and 'twas the Lakers last realistic chance to remain in the game). And there's this: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...sted-los-angeles-lakers-day-day-sore-shoulder - Yikes. A terrible, terrible way to begin this Grammy trip. At least the Phoenix crowd gave Nash his due, which was really the highlight of the evening: *= http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8...berwolves-stands-pau-gasol-los-angeles-lakers Doesn't mean that he can't come off the bench if the situation calls for it, Rubio. Good grief.
Eh, Gay is way overpaid (team's third best player and all) and Prince may actually fit better- better 3p shooter and better defender. and cheaper. I don't think the Grizz made a terrible mistake or anything.
Wow. Cavs beat Thunder. Irving out duels Durant. No Speights is the third best player in the game, not Westbrook. Wow wow wow.
Wife and I just got back from watching the 76ers chokeslam the Orlando Tragic. Aside from losing Thad Young to a hamstring (he literally went down for the count right in front of team owner Will Smith... talk about not gettin' jiggy wit it...) and Jrue missing a ton of field goals (but, he assisted on an abnormal amount of throws), it was a really solid defensive game. When the final buzzer sounds and your opposition has a total of 61 points, you have done a job of slapping the taste out of ther mouths and the ball out of their hands. 61 points. 61.
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...metta-world-peace-dwight-howard-brooklyn-nets On the bright side, the Lakers did win their games in Minnesota & Detroit over the weekend, so that balances this out. They'll be playing in Brooklyn tonight, which got me thinking about this: http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2012/09/silver_lake_americas_hippest_neighborhood.php http://jezebel.com/5973146/in-news-...-are-growing-up-to-become-brooklyn-wine-snobs .
so... he has more than sheed, who they were pretty much completely associated with for the longest time. that's sad.
@DarthTunick: http://www.the700level.com/basketba...s-Swaggy-Ps-360-Sl?blockID=829133&feedID=8510 You need to watch the video. It's not so much Swaggy P's perfect 360 dunk in front of Will Smith... it's Will Smith's reaction that sells it. Goofiest clapping allowed in Philly.
Cleveland High's/Reseda's own Nick Young! I have mentioned before that he was a fellow member of my 2004 graduating class, right? And, speaking of dunks... Naturally, that play was immediately followed by a Brook Lopez basket, but still, my favorite play from this game... which ended up being a tidy (9 points) Laker victory (and improving their record on this Grammy trip to 3-1)! Steve Blake impressed with 7 points scored in the 4th, while Nash/Kobe/Clark carried most of the rest of the offensive load for the underhanded Lakers. Naturally, whenever a bright spot appears during this Lakers season, a larger darker spot of bad sports karma follows: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...ers-injures-foot-vs-brooklyn-nets-undergo-mri. Yikes... yeah, I (and 99.5% of all Laker fans) had been throwing Gasol under the bus for much of this season, but he had scored 22 against Minnesota & 23 against Detroit, so it could have, maybe, perhaps been the turnaround we've all been waiting for. Damn it.
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...angeles-lakers-tear-plantar-fascia-right-foot He'll be out 4-6 weeks.
maybe it's a blessing in disguise tunick. i thought they'd played better without him overall this season. wonder if that kid might possibly have a future in the NBA someday.
Only marginally, Trimaj. With Hill out for the season, and Howard's injury issues, the Lakers need all the size they can get.* *Robert Sacre doesn't count, despite the playing time he'll now get.
