As we've seen lately, unless you are San Antonio, LeBron James, or Golden State (the 3 parties responsible for the league's last 6 Championships), the window to contend for a title is generally short. Boston is better off striking while the iron is hot.

Looks like it's going to be a sign and trade with Utah, but it might be a good chance for someone else to sneak in and get some role players for nothing. Denver had no defense last year, they could really use Avery Bradley instead of playing 35 year old Jameer Nelson. Memphis could use Marcus Smart as the next Tony Allen.

you unloaded the #2 pick from two years ago to get rid of last year's free agency mistake - well, one of them, at least. That's something.

I read that the Grizzlies are retiring Zach Randolph's number. I had no idea that he's 35 (which is my age right now) and couldn't believe it when I read that he's been in the league for sixteen years. How did that happen? He was a workhorse player game after game, year after year. You could pencil him in for 20 and 10 every game.

he hasn't really dropped off yet either. coming off the bench hurt his numbers a little last year just due to fewer minutes, but if you look at his numbers per 36 minutes it was one of his most productive seasons.

Remember the Jail Blazers? He was one of them early in his career.

Meanwhile, Dan Gilbert is low-balling GM candidates.

Edit: But at least not breaking the bank for Tim Hardaway Jr and giving him a 15% trade escalator clause. Point Given - I thought Phil left?

Knicks probably could have gotten him a few million per year cheaper.

Pistons help out Boston and trade Marcus Morris for Avery Bradley and a 2nd. Does this mean Detroit is letting KCP go? He's a fan favorite because he plays his ass off and does whatever you ask him to do. Meh, the Pistons aren't contending for the foreseeable future, anyway. Still, I'll be glad to have Bradley, I love guys who press full court. Lindsay Hunter is, like, my all time favorite Piston, believe it or not.

    Edit:

Just read this from Zach Lowe:

    LOL

And just because I agree wholeheartedly:

Sixty wins without a true #1 player. I love the culture they built there. Too bad it might be coming to an end.

That's EXCELLENT news. Bradley's one of the best guys I've ever seen defend Uncle Drew, and he's the one who hit that Game 3 winner.

The real question then...can LeBron keep up his Finals streak without James Jones?!

Tim Hardaway Jr played with the Knicks last time I really watched them for a whole season. I liked routing for him. But that being said it was about time I jumped ship as a Knicks fan and embraced OKC. I guess the Knicks really didn't have anyone else to make offers to.

My tentative playoff predictions for the West:

    1) Warriors
    2) Rockets
    3) Thunder
    4) Spurs
    5) Timberwolves
    6) Blazers
    7) Nuggets
    8) Clippers (or Pelicans)

The East is too wild to predict at this stage.

    Are the 76ers cursed?

Looks like the Knicks might scoop up the unwanted Cavs GM.
