Apparently, the writers at cracked.com don’t like Revolution very much. The show takes up 9 of the 10 dumbest things on TV so far this season (the other slot being that Seahawks/Packers touchdown call)
Nothing really I am just saying if they wanted a show based in a schizo tech enviroment, just set it on another planet, or have a Civil war era like show without dealing with racial issues or slavery or sexism.

your reasoning is very late 20th early 21st century 1'st world nation. the Monroe republic, might not have thoes resources. might not have the metals or access to base chemicals. And even still our Guy might have died of a adozen illnesses from a Bad flu, Shingles, cancer. To smelt metal on mass you need founderies, with out that he guy is meaking specialty items. As Sordmasters smiths would take months or years to make a good blade. It may take this surviver months to pop out 50 cartages. Which can be blown through quite easily. As even if this Super gunsmith lived he might at best make a few rifles a year, and Muskets is all they can mass produce. How does the Moneroe Republic work? Dose it trade? How much is devoted to farm land? Do they farm edible goods or luxury crops? Trap beaver pelts? is it Diary cows? resources is what you can mine/farm/and trade for any and all fo these can and often to for many nations come up short. There is a reason they say "one man can make a Diffrence" instead of "one man does make a diffrence" If you have to depend on 1 man your are probably SOL.
