For any guys with wives or girlfriends that do not understand your Star Wars obsession, this is the perfect way to interest her. Women always seem to want to do something cultural like plays or symphonies, so this is a great date! A friend of mine and I took our wives to Pittsburgh to see John Williams conduct the Pittsburgh Symphony and you would've thought we took them to see Beethoven himself, they enjoyed it so much!

Its true about women really, I love doing that sort of stuff. Chris had never done any of it but I got him interested in going to plays and other cultural things with me even if at first he wasn't to interested :) .

I'm not yet sure if I am going to be able to do it but I will let you know as soon as I find out.

I posted this on the 501st's yahoogroup, and they're interested in this event as well. Jim Epps will contact the NCSymphony and get an ok to make it a trooping encounter.

I know Don's original post at the top of this thread is already correct, but it apparently bears repeating - this is a John William's concert in music only - John Williams will not be there conducting, so don't bring that Star Wars LP to be signed.

I know that seems obvious, but I've been PM'ed by three different people asking me if I was going to see John Williams in Raleigh, so either it's not as obvious as I thought or people just aren't reading as closely as they should be.

Either way, it should still be a great show as I've heard wonderful things about the NC Symphony and have seen them a couple of times on PBS. I look forward to hearing them in person. My wife and I have tickets for the Saturday, April 3, 8pm show.

Jim Epps has successfully contacted NCS, and they are excited to have the 501st there, as far as I know, only the elite canon of troopers and Imperial officers are coming there, and there is a March 13 youth group meeting involved.

Yes, it's true is only music of John Williams, not the master himself.

Is everyone getting tickets seperately or are we going to buy a big group of tickets so we can all sit together? I am definately going to this, Sunday Matinee sounds great to me, let me know about the tickets.

No group tickets available, kids, but I do have some awesome news. At my suggestion and recommendation, the 501st gang will be there!
Here's the email from our fine folks at the 501st website!
    ***************************************************

    Hey folks,

Sean and I have discussed the situation and this is what we have....

This is a canon event! What I need is for everyone interested to email me or post here the day they are available, the costume they would wear, and their height. We will definitely be in the lobby before the March 13 concert (no intermission), before and during intermission for the April2-4 concerts, and hope to have a stage appearance at all the concerts during the final piece, Star Wars theme.

*****In order to be allowed on stage, we need at least 4 clean white TK's(trying for similar heights), Vader,an officer, and possibly ANH Leia(hint Cherlyn, no pressure ). I would like to stage the Tantive IV interrogation (no sound of course). This is not set in stone. Jango with clonetroopers and /or Boba may be included depending on who is available for each concert.

For lobby appearance we need clean white TK's(trying for similar heights), Vader, Jango, clonetroopers(need at least a pair), Boba, Royal Guards(need at least a pair), tie pilots(need at least a pair),biker scouts, imperial officers, and possibly Jedi. TD's could patrol outside the lobby(a pair here as well). There is plenty of space in front of Meymandi and the front of the building is all glass. Cool effect, having us inside and outside!

    4 concerts...March 13 (11:00am)report time 9:45 am
April 2 (8:00 pm) report time 6:30 pm
April 3 (8:00 pm) report time 6:30 pm
April 4 (3:00 pm) report time 1:30 pm

Check these links as well for more details of the music etc....

    http://www.ncsymphony.org/events/details.cfm?did=226

This is a great possibility for a lot of exposure to the public!!!! If you can do this, please sign up!! If you are in Raleigh and can help house folks from out of town, please post here (Yahoo) and/or the forum
    (www.501stcarolina.com).

I look forward to seeing everyone that can make this cool event!

    thanks!

If you go to the NC Symphony website and click on the Ticket and Venues, it opens up a pull down menu with Venues and Directions. It's basically a Mapquest link, but it should get you there.

So do we know yet if the 501st is gonna get on stage for these concerts? I'll be there for the Saturday night show. Looking forward to it!

Good luck Don and Jane and to all the 501st. I've spilled blood with you and would do it again. I wish I could be there with you guys and I am there in spirit, but the Emperor calls me away this weekend.

    Dal,
The plan is for the 501st to be greeting the patrons as they enter in the lobby AND be on stage!

    JMK,
I'm so endebtted to you, my man! Your presence of the empire will be sorely missed. I will look awesome in your costume and make the 501st proud.

I'll be posted outside before the concert, and inside during intermission. Sean has borrowed Felix's Vader costume and they will stage a silent skit of the Tantive IV interrogation with Cherie as ANH Leia, a trooper and Vader on stage. This event is picture perfect for us, so bring your photocapable celphone and camera!

Is photography allowed during the concert? I have pretty good seats near the front and I'd snap a few pics as long as I don't get tossed out. It probably says on the tickets. I should probably find those. [face_plain]

I had a terrific time with the 501st guys!
This was a really big deal, and many thanks to everyone who came up and found me (Dal, Padawan, Jedi-Natalie)!

Thursday night - I was worried I could not handle the helmet because it was freaking me out. Never been in a helmet before! [face_shocked] The fogup on the visor and sweatting was disconcerting. But I toughed it thru and it became mind over matter as I hyperventalated in that outfit for a 45 min. stretch prior to concert, then a 20 min stretch for intermission.

Even found that my running partner from Feb 98 at the Myrtle beach Marathon relay, Joanna Kakissis, from the N&O will do a nice piece in the newspaper for us 501sters. She interviewed Sean Dudley and this will be a big lifestyle expose' on us wild and crazy guys. :D

The concert was a blast, and they want us back for their July 10 Pops in the Park at Regency! :D It was way too cool!

    Don,

I'm so proud of you for sticking it out! Two Words: You Rock!

Three Sessions of 45 minutes in the bucket and three sessions of 20 in the bucket are enough to send anyone packing. But you stuck it out and made it through. I'm very very proud of you!

It was fun all three performances and I will definately be there for the July 10th Event! I have to say yesterday's performance was my favorite because we were able to find mostly everyone and that we had more exposure out in the main lobby. And just walking to and from the elevator as two guards was impressive! I think we had several impressed looks from the Ushers as we went by.

As trainer of the Carolina Royal Guards, I officially declare you an Honorary TR and bestow the title of "Silent But Deadly" on you. :)

    Congrats!

That event was incredible, I enjoyed it so very much! The music was unbelieveable hearing it played live. Don and UD, it was great seeing you both again, your costumes and the rest of the 501st looked awesome. I am sooooo getting me a set of Stormtrooper Armor so I can get in on that action next time! Who was it you said was selling the armor? I would love to know. Cant wait to see all of you again, I had a great time!

"We would be honored...if you would join me!" or us, rather! :D And many thanks to UD for giving me Imperial Guard training! Here's the report from the Carolina Garrison
    ****************************************************
Thanks to Cheralyn, Sean, Shane, Russell, Byrd, BJ, Jim (BH-2172), Dave
D., Dave A., Chris, Don, Jane, Jim E. Sr., and Felix for
releasing Vader!!!! I had a blast!!! Everyone from the symphony loved
what we did and how it added to the whole experience of the John
    Williams concerts.

For all three concerts, April 2,3 and 4, we appeared outside the
building and in the front lobby as concerts goers arrived and during
intermission. Quite a few folks new exactly who we were and hit us with
lines like, "these aren't the droids your looking for". BJ was quickly
informed just how "canon" his officer was by a six year old! I can
honestly say this is the first time I have ever seen an elderly woman
reach out and hug a stormtrooper and it happened more than once!!! The
honorary trooper buttons were a BIG hit with the kids! I was surprised
to see how many people had cameras with them just by chance. A lot of
pics were taken with "upper end" cell phones as well.

For the April 2 and 3 concerts we staged the capture of Leia and
presentation / interrogation with Vader during the final piece, "Throne
room / End Title". Cheralyn first cruised through the auditorium trying
to ecsape/hide during a portion of Leia's theme included during the End
Title. After she exits, three white TK's come through the crowd looking
for her and also exit. We then had to hustle, out of sight from the
audience, to stage left door. Leia is now in binders and escorted
across the stage to face Vader by the TK's. Vader shakes his finger at
Leia and then swings his arm, "take her away!" We quickly leave the
stage and wait for Conductor Curry. He leads us back on stage for a
quick bow. After leaving the stage for a second time, the conductor
thanks the Carolina Garrison and begins the Superman Theme as an encore.

For the 4th, we had a slight change in the "skit". We did not have Leia
and needed a new idea... I new my parents were attending the concert
and my father is used to performing skits with work from time to time.
Therefore the 4 white TK's arrested him in the
audience and took him before Vader on stage! It was well received and
the conductor even made a comment that he was not as attractive as
Leia! Because this was an afternoon appearance and the last of the
weekend, Vader and the 4 TK's made an appearance outside after the
concert. Again quite a few pics were taken with us.

The pics should be posted on our Yahoo photo section soon and here as well.

Thanks again to all involved !!! Job well done!

I hope I did not miss anyone. Please let me know if I did!

It looks like we will have another shot at this on July 10 at Regency
    Park in Cary!!!
