A kick-@$$ program for text in a film. Comes with FCP.

Not that I know of. But personally, I don't really like LiveType, although it is occasionally useful. Most of the textures and objects are, unless you're doing a corporate video or something, cool to look at, but not very practical.

Motion, on the other hand, has all of LiveType's capabilities, and a LOT more. Truly an awesome program...

But, that's not for PC's either. Heh. Get a mac. :D

    Funk-E- This is LiveType.

Yeah, I did all the research on Motion and went to the demo day event at the local Apple store (won a Motion t-shirt too).

Anyways, I just got a nice Centrino-based notebook for school - so no money for a PowerMac G5.

So, there's nothing even semi close to LiveType or the text-based effects in Motion?

After Effects can do it. By the look of things, it would take a little more manual work, but it can do it. AE can do anything, almost.

It can't make breakfast worth a crap. But it can do everything else pretty well.

I don't know, it can whip up a mean batch of hash browns if it has to.

And I said almost, you big goof. :p

If I leave AE rendering something intensive for quite a while, I'm sure I could cook eggs on my AMD's heatsink.

I'm already using After Effects 6 Professional.
Creating the fancy stuff you can do in LiveType / Motion by just using their presets is quite cumbersome (not to mention render times)

Yeah, I did all the research on Motion and went to the demo day event at the local Apple store (won a Motion t-shirt too).

Ha! Me too! I won the T-shirt with the question, "How much does motion cost?" Everyone else rose their hands. I just shouted, "299!". :p

Anyway, while we're on the subject, do ya know if there's a [near] equivalent of MotionPerfect for the Mac? :D

Oh, and if you are in desperate need of any LiveType services, I can help you out sometime...

Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it mind.

As for the question I answered:
"What were the Apple pro applications featured in the demo reel at the beginning of the presentation?"
Two people before me said "Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Motion", they failed to mention Shake and Logic Pro.
