    Neverwinter Nights.

Well, what do you mean by adventure?

Outcast- FPS. Singleplayer is a shooter w/ puzzles. Multiplayer has several play modes, CTF, another varient of that, FFA, TFFA, and others.

Neverwinter- fun RPG. Singleplay hasn't interested me, but multiplay is really fun depending on the server.

Battlefield 1942- a great WW II Team based FPS, you can be infantry, fly planes, ships, and vehicles, with about 64 total vehicles in the full game.

Dungeon Siege- technically an RPG, but its basically a hack and slash. I used to be obsessed with it, I had played through the demo over 100 times. Then I borrowed the full game from a friend, and played through the next two dungeons and then gave up, as it was a bit easy and not as fun as I had expected.

Okay, if you want adventure, get Morrowind. It's a first-person RPG with a decent combat system (i.e. not point-at-this-monster-and-let-your-avatar-do-the-work type of system. The world is HUGE. The game will take you hours to beat (like over 100). The only question is if you have the time and if you have the system to run it (the graphics are simply amazing).

I'd list some specs, but the official site is down. http://www.elderscrolls.com/ | Morrowind Chronicles, Games official thread

I supposed it should not be too old ? As for pure adventure it's getting rare those days ( :_| R.I.P. Presto Studios), the closer being action adventure...

Well, Deus Ex could fit, if you haven't already played it.

Otherwise, I'd suggest Outcast (no, not Jedi Outcast, just 'Outcast'). The game is about two years old I think, but its a very good action/adventure game with a rather solid storyline, and a very solid universe. And while it's rather pixellated in the foreground (the game uses the old Vortex engine... that is no polygons), it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. The game site, if you're interested.

What's happening with Outcast 2 these days? Has it been canned? Haven't heard anything about it in a while...

Bah, "Because of new development opportunities, we are sorry to inform you that the development of Outcast 2 has been momentarily suspended."

Read : sorry, guys, you're never gonna see Outcast 2 : The Lost Paradise.

Crap. :( It looked so sweet.

EDIT : Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Appeal bit dust last August. :_| :_| Now adventure gaming starts to rot. Thank God or whoever's in charge taht Revolution makes Broken Sword 3.

There might be a chance to save the game, though, you can sign the petition here. If you liked Outcast, please sign it.

good adventure games to spend time on = Half-Life and all of its mods especially the They Hunger trilogy which nothing to with Half-Life but is a Half-Life mod and it rocks; all of the Medal of Honor games; Return to Castle Wolfenstein; and anything with Iggy Koopa in it (but only if you get to play as Iggy).

You can probably find Masters of Orion 2 in the bargain bins at Software ETC for $10. It's strategy but it'll occupy you for a long long time. For about six months it was all I ever played. (as and added bonus if you like it as half as much as I did the sequel will be out next year)

Well, I can't help you if you're looking for brand new games, but I will say one of my favorite adventure games is Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. It's a few years old, not the best graphics (though I do actually enjoy the background artwork, I find it quite well done and attractive), but great fun, and at least for me, a challenge. Not to mention it does have some of the traditional Indy humor and tongue-in-cheek.

I'm hoping the latest one, coming out this fall, will be good, as well.
