I have 3ds max, (not really) and it wont work no more. I know piracy is bad so thats y i stopped using it. IM too young to get up 4,000 dollars 4 it. Any good cheap programs out there? Until i get the moola or better program, ill just have to reinstall the demo over and over again...

    Thanx

    astalavista :) ... or blender :(

You know, if you don't try to make money with you 3d work, 3d software editors don't really care.

I'm guessing that you are a student so, if you are, you can get 3ds Max 6 for $500 on student pricing with a full liscense. Or you can get it for $150 or $300--I can't remember-- for a 1 year liscence.

I am learning with Carrara Studio 3. $400 new or you can buy version 1 for about 32 and then upgrade for $269.

Here is a thread with some of my samples...

And I often use Wings3D (free) for modeling as Carrara's modeler is rather difficult in comparison.

3dToolkit from dvGarage is only $99.
This is basically an old version of Electric Image Universe plus a boatload of helpful tutorials.

This particular version of Universe is what was used to make Duality and also what Alex Lindsay used to do all the Queen's Ship shots for Star Wars Episode I.

    Have fun.
