There is a personality shift from Locarno to Paris- but head canon could explain that as a result of his incarceration.

Yeah, I would tend to agree with that. He starts out as a selfish jerk and by the end of the series, he's a different person.

Well I think, to me, Locarno = Paris at least in the pilot but I can see that argument that Locarno is unlikable and unredeemable (which I think the producers have said, not saying the royalty cheque argument). I do kind of like the idea that you take a complete selfish jerk and have him be basically the most likable one in the entire crew by the end.

It's a convoluted silly headcanon retcon anyway. It's just that they start Tom Paris in "Caretaker" and the exact same place Locarno left off with the reason for being in captivity with the same actor. Yeah, I know there's been more than a few same actor playing multiple parts in Trek but for some reason this one nags at me. James Cromwell had more than a few TNG / DS9 parts and then they got him for Cochrane in First Contact. I believe they tried to get Tom Hanks, who is also a Trekiee and would have been fantastic and interesting to see I'm sure, but Cromwell freakin' nails it so hard I'm totally ecstatic that they went back to the Trek well of character actors and gave him a big part for First Contact. Same deal with McNiell and Tom Paris.

I noticed Dr. Crusher in The Muppets Take Manhattan the other day, credited as Cheryl McFadden. Some wacky time travel mission must have required her to pose as secretary to a scam producer. I bet his great-grandson invented the flux inductance regulator or something.

She credits herself as "Cheryl" when she's the choreographer and "Gates" when she's an actress primarily. I think that's how it goes.

Anyone else play Star Trek Online still? I know there was a thread years ago back when it came out, but didn't know if anyone else still bothered.

I didn't even realise it was still going. Purchased on launch day and allowed my first month subscription lapse.

Only very briefly. I heard that she actually had a slightly larger presence in that movie, but that nearly all of her scenes were cut.

You guys watching Blunt Talk? Patrick Stewart meets an old friend early on. It's pretty funny.

If true, does this mean that they can redesign the bridge and dump the target price scanners?

I'm sorry, were you saying something? I wasn't paying attention. I was too busy looking at the scantily clad woman from the sex planet. :p

What if in the future we go to the stars, meet a bunch of alien races...and it turns out that we are the sex planet?

That whole poster is hilarious because it implies TFF was some rip roaring adventure when all it is is Shatner humiliating his friends/cast members.

LOL! Yeah, the tagline could as easily have been What does God need with a starship? or Kirk vs God. Don't bet on God.
