Not that I've done extensive research on it, but I recall his major problems being with the writers and producers of Voyager. He felt his character was underused and the writing was often bad, and he was right.

Alt universes, blah blah whatever, mirror, etc. (Although I'm not quite sure what happened to Mirror-Verse Dax. Or was she just Jazdia? Mirror-verse Ezri wasn't Dax)

Although that symbiont sure seems to make their hosts not age either if you check out how Ezri is looking lately:

40s isn't thought of as so old these days thanks to Clooney and company. I guess the looks manage to remain.

Clooney is a man. Actresses in their 30's still have trouble in the business; actresses over 40 have trouble getting work at all (aside from leading-man's-mother roles and such).

I agree but men suffer from the ageism a little more than you think when it comes to casting. I was really surprised to see Capaldi cast in Doctor Who following the three Doctors cast prior to him. Daniel Craig was quite young when cast as Bond. Frankly, I think he's only still in the role because he is so damn good at it (which is how it should be). But would they have cast Craig had he been 45 around the time of Casino Royale? Not so sure.

Considering Casino Royale was going to be something of a 'origin' story for Bond? Probably not.

    Exactly.

But I don't see why a male over 40 would be precluded from an origin story either. Does every legend need to begin in one's twenties?

Creativity it makes a lot of sense for an origin story to cast someone middle aged. If Batman Begins was made now instead of back in the early 2000s, Christian Bale would still be an excellent choice for Batman/Bruce because he absolutely looks the part. Maybe he's a billionaire who just got bored of the lifestyle and at 40 decided it was time to stand for something greater. Works for me.

They're doing Dark Knight Returns Batman in "Batman v Superman" and Dark Knight Returns supposed to be "Old Batman" but as Old as you can get in Hollywood is Affleck at 40 and basically and also be a superhero.

to somewhere steer it back towards topic, I did see Nicole deBoer at a con once (and chatted her up too, very nice gal) and she did mention there's a hellova lot of "mom" roles that she sees a lot of. She's been in a lot of Lifetime and kinda weak TV movies (did also mention it to her that I had seen a few of them and even she thought they weren't very good - and was surprised I had seen them at all, hahah) but I still just like watching her act, I think she's just interesting, especially as Ezri in her first episode back at the station where she councils Garrak but also in Cube and she has a pretty damn fantastic 90s "Outer Limits" episode with Robert Patrick (written by a guy who went on to make the Stargate TV series, I believe).

I've been keeping an eye on the TFA press tour to see if any Trek info would leak, however, this is even better, the Star Trek Beyond trailer is the winnar of the "which trailer is attached to TFA" sweepstakes (I'm assuming the Bad Robot connection had something to do with it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the complete trailer roll call is Civil War, Batman v Superman & Star Trek Beyond).

For nerds who dig both Star Trek & Star Wars, this is awesome

I remember seeing the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition trailer in front of Star Trek First Contact, so now it'll be reversed, kinda sorta.

good genes, gal is just dangblasted pretty. ( twitter.com/nikki_deboer she posts pictures once in awhile, doesn't seem as crazy active on twitter as most Trek alums are) I really wish she did, like, more stuff. In anything. She apparently starred in a probably direct to cable movie this year but it ain't even been released in Canada yet (as far as I know) because a few of her flicks have shown up here. She hasn't gotten into the kickstarter for fan productions bit yet (but I kind of miss seeing her play Ezri so much that I wouldn't even mind if she did.)

Nicole de Boer has always been very pretty, and she has IMO aged very gracefully. I think probably the last thing I remember seeing her in was The Dead Zone. Personally, I think that a film of the prime verse's Zero Sum Game would make for a great thriller Star Trek film. Too bad it will never happen.
