Ended up watching Please Stand By which was decently heartwarming. Although it's sometimes odd to see Trekkies as introverted damaged folks, they do a decent job of having some people who like Trek and have their lives together. But it's really worth it for the few TOS references and the way the main character uses Star Trek as a way to get a handle on her life, the short bit with the TOS space suits, and a scene where Dakota Fanning and Patton Oswalt speak entirely in Klingon which is kind of great. (Minor quibble that they're speaking in Klingon and the movie is very much focused on how she uses the TOS to understand the world and the Klingon language wasn't in TOS but there's also a reference to DS9 in there so she obviously knows a bit more about the other things)

 

I wanna see the Edselprise.

Still working my way through The Orville as it's broadcast in the UK, still really enjoying it. Family Guy guy has only ****ed me off a few times with his Shatnerisms and Family Guy guyisms, but overall the humour is not too painful and it's often worked to have your plot prediction suspicions pay off across an episode (in contrast to the dry way that TNG did such things). Kind of Dr Who like use of comedy rather than, say, Red Dwarf. It is eerily similar to the BBC's Hyperdrive which I urge everyone to check out (it's presently floating around youtube).

 

I love Hyperdrive. They never made any more than 12 episodes, did they?

 

It's British and not Doctor Who or Eastenders. You're lucky they made 12.
