ST New alien sidekick

I did a search and found a similar thread to this post it was "archived" and I have "insufficient privileges" to post in it.

I haven't seen any discussion or speculation lately on a new alien companion to join the heroes.

I keep thinking that it is a given that there will be a new main alien character - that there HAS to be - but none of the actors named so far strike me as being that character.

Could it be that there won't be a new Chewie?

 

I think Lupita's character will be the main new alien in the story. Hopefully there are more, though. The cast so far is a little heavier on the human side than I would personally like.

Agree with the above; Rose is likely the main new alien character, but she's really not a sidekick by definition. It's possible the little blue alien that appears to know Rey early in the movie has more of that quality, assuming they're even in the movie.

 

Don't forget 'Naka' who apparently has a role as well, maybe same species as Rose?

 

I think that the LBAs have evolved from the early concept art qutie significantly. Maybe the plan was that Naka, Rey's friend, the "elder/Vicar" and possibly Rose were all of the same species from the same desert planet. Perhaps the elder LBA was supposed to reveal the secrets of the lightsabre and send our heroes on their way with the young LBA joining them? Now it seems the elder alien role has been split with MVS and Rose whilst Rose may/may not take on the accompanying LBA role?

Most of that early concept art is obsolete/redundant now by the looks of it.

It is possible that Andy Serkis is playing the New Alien Sidekick.

 

Yes, it is possible.

The only thing we know for certain is that the voice in the teaser is Serkis' character and that it is dialogue from the movie (and not jus recorded for teaser).

I does seem to imply that Serkis is a Force user but this could just be because it is out of context - he could just be talking to a Force user who has felt a disturbance in the Force.

However, I would be very surprised if that character was not a Force user.

And being a Jedi, he could still be the sidekick ... but to only another Jedi.

It is also possible that he is portraying more than one character, as in a mo-cap AND a live action one.

 

that'd be hilarious if serkis was helping with mo-cap and playing a role but the role turns out to be a street vendor or something.

 

Hilarious? I don't know. Disappointing? Absolutely. He is the king of mo-cap.

And I can only see him having a bit part mo-cap role if he had a significant live action part. He isn't there just to coordinate and advise on the motion capture elements.

Maybe I misinterpreted, but didn't Serkis say that he's only playing one character?

 

There is something familiar about him playing only one role in TFA, but I don't know where it comes from or if it is real
