Man that banner is sweet! I just like coming to this forum to see these graphics. It's one of my best 'big head banners' if I do say so myself. :D

    My, how humble of you!

I don't like the new banner. Good pics of Anakin, Maul, and Qui-Gon, true. Good work having Palpatine in there.

    But where's Sidious?
    Where's Jar Jar?
    Where's Boss Nass?
Why's Padme so tiny, and no Amidala?
    Where's the Trade Federation?
    What's Dooku doing in there?

Did this person even see The Phantom Menace?

Eh it works for me and I have a very discerning eye for these sort of things. It's seldom that I actually am a fan of my own work but this banner is an exception. Sidious is there, Jar Jar is there too(in the reply graphic anyway), the Trade Federation is well represented...you are looking at the banner aren't you, Whimper? :p

As for the inclusion of Dooku, like I said earlier, the saga is almost finished and things will slowly start to merge in terms of graphics around here because the story is close to being complete. Dooku beget Qui-Gon who inturn beget Obi-Wan who later beget Anakin and I wanted to show this in a subtle way. Besides, the only place you can see Dooku and Qui-Gon together is in this banner.

But this place doesn't belong to you, so your personal opinion on what should be in the banner is irrelvant. The banner is for TPM, not the entire Star Wars saga. Take Dooku out and add Jar Jar.

Um, I'm a TFN staff member who creates banners so my opinion is important if someone asks me to make a new banner or if I decide to make one on my own accord. I'm offered the opportunity to create things and that's what I do with little to no input from anyone else because they trust my instincts for these sort of things which is why I'm a part of the staff.

So if anything "belongs" to anyone around here it would be the TFN staff that owns it. :p

In this case your instint was wrong. You let your personal opinion of the movie contaminate the banner. You leave out a main character and add one that's not even in the movie? If you wanna create wallpapers for yourself, do whatever you want. Put Howard the Duck in your TPM collage, I don't care, but this forum is not your personal playground.

Wow. It's amazing how seriously people take things like banners. [face_laugh]

I like it. I think having Dooku in there is cool. Just my opinion.

    1. qui-gon and obi-wan are arriving in secret, so they travel in a old decommissioned republic vessel to naboo, with ric olie as the captain.
    2. 3Po takes the place of tc-14 as the trade fed's liason.
    3. the trade fed are the guys we see in rotj traveling with palpy.
    4. When all hell breaks loose on the trade fed ship, the jedi must fight through the hanger to get back to the ship, including obi wan using the force to hurl his lightsaber at one of those droid starfighters cutting it in two. I'd keep the whole melting blast doors part though.
    5. When going to naboo from the trade fed ship, they must land in the swamp, because the invasion is in full swing at that point.
    6. qui-gon and obi-wan run into the jar jar character(insert whatever new name here) in the swamp with the other gungans fighting the droids. After saving him and his comrades, jar jar agrees to take the jedi underwater to the other side of theed, where they can sneak into the city.
    7. The naboo put up a fight vs the trade fed. All the way into the palace, and into amidala's throne room where at least one handmaiden dies protecting sabe.
    8. There is no panaka, instead sabe is the captain of the guard in addition to being the decoy queen.
    9. After being rescued by the jedi(who kill all the droids except 3po who was escorting them, they drag him along since he'd have info on the trade fed invasion that could be used in the senate)they must go through the sewers to escape the city and get back to ric and his ship. The sewers would look exactly like the trash compactor from anh. And padme would show that leia spirit during the ordeal.
    10. They leave naboo, R2 makes his entrance much the same as in tpm, only he's working on the republic ship, not a queen's ship. Same deal, they have to make a stop on tatooine for repairs.
    11. Cut to coruscant, maul and palpy, the scene we see on tpm continue's into a hanger where we see maul's ship. Palpy gives maul a few bits of sith wisdom, including the secret on how to remain hidden from the jedi. Maul mentions that if the information from their meditation chamber(and we'll see one similar to vader's from esb in the background) is correct, that the jedi will be found on tatooine.
    12. we see maul depart.
    13. arriving on tatooine for repairs, quigon, padme, r2 and 3po(as an Interpreter) go into the city, while obi-wan and the gungan begin repairs with ric olie. They go to watto's shop, where republic credits are fine(mind trick works). Watto allows anakin(11) to go to the ship to help with repairs, during the day, which will take a few days total.
    14. meanwhile on the ship, an obi-wan/rabe romance blossums.
    15. nearing completion of repairs, maul arrives on tatooine and begins his search for the jedi and the queen.

    14. repairs are nearly finished, anakin is coming back with quigon, r2, 3po and padme, to help with the final repairs
    15. Maul attacks. He takes out 3po, knowing 3po would have information that would aid the naboo. A duel takes place between quigon and maul, that is much longer than the one we see. padme is unable to get back to the ship. quigon signals to obiwan for them to take off while they can.
    16. maul seeing them leave, summons his ship and leaves in pursuit. padme, quigon, r2 and the remnants of 3po are trapped on tatooine with anakin.
    17. knowing he cannot lose maul in open space without a hyperdrive fully repaired, ric does some fancy manuevering near the surface of tatooine. This is the big chase scene of the movie, and takes place of the pod race. maul pursues them through beggar's canyon, a jawa encampment, and into mos espa itself. obiwan and jar jar complete repairs and ric makes his way to open space, where they jump into hyperspace.
    18. The party arrives on coruscant. Palpy of course senses that sabe is the fake queen, and therefore there is nothing that can be done in the senate.
    19. obiwan appeals to the jedi council to allow him to go back to tatooine for quigon and the others. We see Dooku on the council(he is completely good at this point). Yoda denies the request, and d

if you condense it all down it means that it's stupid to have dooku in a graphic representing TPM.

Not only big-headed, but an elitest too? Where DO you get off, LMM? You are getting more revisionist than even GL.

Dooku wasn't in TPM. I honestly don't give two shakes what your opinion or views on the movie are. He doesn't belong in the banner. Plus, he looks like crap in the banner. I supposed that blurred, washed-out look is to show that he was "in the shadows, behind the scenes" in TPM?

Get off your high horse, take a look around on your own feet, and quit dictating your own personal opinions as God-given "facts." And then when someone disagrees with you, don't hide behind TF.N like some whiney little preschooler who feels his status symbol as a "staff member" threatened.

[face_laugh] I'm actually enjoying all this for the simple fact that I knew by adding Dooku to the banner it would cause some controversy. I'm glad some of you feel passionate about this seemingly insignificant matter because it indicates you folks are actually paying attention.

I sense a lot of anger though, good thing none of it is originating from me. :D :p

Seriously, I understand why Dooku doesn't "belong" on the banner. But how mucht time that you spend at the forums are you actually staring at the banner? I personally spend most of my time here reading posts and barely even notice what's on the banners aside from the first day of a new banner or the special Holiday Banners (like the one with Darth Maul hugging an Ewok. That one I stared at. :p)

    NEWSFLASH:
    IT'S AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD.

If the banner really means that much to you, get a freakin therapist because you have problems.

my problem has nothing to do with the actual banner itself, and everything to do with your attitude about it [face_plain]

You have to put my response of being a TFN staff member into the context of a reply to EchoBase's post:

What I'm trying to say is, yes my opinion does matter because I'm the one who created the banner. My opinion of what's cool, what's not, what should be included, what shouldn't, where everything is layed out, what color it is, the sharpness, the clarity, the purpose and the overall theme plays an important part in creating graphics for TFN. That's all based on my opinion as a graphic designer and a Star Wars fan. It's the relatively cold hard truth that some of you fail to realize. If you can't accept it then you have trouble dealing with the obvious. If my statements seem arrogant then you should try asking more questions and making less judgements that result in my honest responses.

Lord Maully, I think we've got a minor misunderstanding on our hands here.

I'm not trying to say that you aren't entitled to your opinion. I'm not saying that your opinion shouldn't play a part in your collage. I'm not saying that your own ideas for a banner should represent the majority of people's perceptions of the movie. And even if I don't agree with it, I'm not questioning the ridiculous mindset of yours that because you're a "staff member" your opinion matters more. Sure it does.

All I'm saying is that your banner pretty much sucks. That's all.

Sucks. Really does. Like- really sucktacular.

And what the hell is Dooku doing in there when he wasn't in the movie? OH WAIT I KNOW!

THAT'S NOT DOOKU, IT'S SARUMAN THE WHITE!!! OMG!

I know he wasn't in the movie either, but I mean- he's a hidden villain controling things in an entirely different film. The metaphor makes it beautiful! So of course he deserves a place in the banner!

Again, I have to agree with Whimper. Your opinion should have no bearing on the banner. Why don't you put Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker in the banner? The whole series is about Darth Vader, and Luke is Anakin/Vader's son who eventually saves him. So why not have them in there?

The Answer: Because they don't belong. They aren't in the movie. And, as someone mentioned above, it isn't so much the banner that is a problem, it is your attitude, and your arrogance that I have a problem with. You seem to have an elitist attitude toward the boards. Because you are a "staff member" you are right, and your opinion is automatically correct and well excepted by all. You, sir, are an idiot. Even when your opinion leads you to do totally non-sensical things, you claim it is justified because TF.N trusts your judgement in such areas.

Perhaps it is time they stopped?
