Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there today.

 

It's just me, then. Life is so lonely sometimes.

 

I can't remember if I ever finished Caprica. I watched it while it first aired, and then I moved before it ended.... then I watched it on Netflix for awhile, but then it was taken off. Maybe I finished it, but I think it was just a fairly forgettable show.

 

Is your life basically I Am Legend?

 

The last time I saw BSG in a movie theater, it was in Sensurround.

 

Universal preparing big screen adaptation

 

Not quite sure how that will fit in with the current climate of space operas given the use of colour and face pacing we've seen in the latest Star Wars, Star Trek, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and Independence Day films.

 

I doubt a film can improve on the reboot miniseries. That really is a landmark and classic of sci fi tv. Maybe not the best sci fi tv of all time, but my absolute favorite.

 

This particular attempt has been percolating for a while now, but it seems to finally be building up some momentum. Not familiar with the writer, and I've scrupulously avoided the Hunger Games saga, so the (potential) director is known to me only for his work on Constantine, a somewhat underrated but far from great film IMO. But it's nice to see these key tumblers falling into place.

I actually just began a re-watch of the original '78 series this week, so I'm in a bit of a BSG mindset at the moment. It's got all the trappings you'd expect from 70s genre TV, but I've been impressed by how well thought out its mythology is considering. If this movie adaptation leans more toward TOS as rumored, there's actually a lot to work with.

 

So say we all. RDM turned Battlestar from a goofy, campy 70s cult show into seminal science fiction on the order of Star Trek. And he did it while making a weekly sci-fi character drama look like a 200 million dollar movie.

 

I'm a little hesitant on it, I don't think there's anything you can easily improve in a two hour film.

All my qualms are mostly plot based in the tv series.

And if it's a new take I'm not sure you can top the series. I'll be there for it anyway and I hope it turns out well but I don't think it can possibly top the series, at all.

 

the very idea makes me want to go back and re-watch the miniseries tonight, just to purge myself of rebootish thoughts.

 

Not sure I could get into a new Starbuck that wasn't Katee Sackhoff or an Admiral Adama that wasn't Edward James Olmos, etc. The TV show cast was just amazing and would be near impossible to top, IMO. Am kind of hesitant to be excited for this movie...

 

there's an opportunity here to kill the project with our minds, just by thinking outraged thoughts at it until the production falls apart.

I know I know how wrong it is...but it's just so good...

 

Yeah. Katee Sackhoff, Edward James Olmos. Mary McDonnell and James Callis all richly deserved Emmys and didn't get them.

Like the proposed Princess Bride remake, I don't want this either.

 

Apparently it’s not actually a reboot and will be respectful of the RDM series. I’m not sure exactly how that will work, but if that’a The case, I am willing to keep an open mind.

 

It was the cast that made both original and reboot BSG. That's why the original sequel was rubbish and the spin off on the reboot were meh.

I've limited interest as a result.


Happy as always to be proven wrong though.

 

I'm thinking this new Battlestar Galactica will be something like CBS All Acess' Star Trek Discovery, where is just creates its own mythology and world.
