Currently, this index is run by Jade_Max, LASOS and Golden_Jedi although we are using this opportunity to request help from other Han/Leia lovers to provide with ideas for challenges, discussion topics and to be reviewers. Seriously, y'all, a HUGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE to Golden_Jedi and Jade_Max for the incredible work they've done here! Goldie really rocked the casbah on this one. She put some pretty incredible PhotoShop skills to the test and made those gorgeous buttons and really got the ball rolling on the relaunch! MAD PROPS to them!!!!!


HOORAY, Han and Leia goodness! I feel like we should have a discussion...

How does this work for starters (and PLEASE feel free to come up with something else at any time!):

What is your favorite Han/Leia moment from the movies?

I'm torn between the kiss when Leia frees Han from carbonite and that first interchange in detention block AA-23. Though there's no gooey mush, I think I might like the latter more. They're complete equals in that moment of meeting and that doesn't happen anywhere else in the movie(s). When Han and Luke meet, Han's talking down to Luke. When Luke and Leia meet, Luke's "rescuing" her. But when Han and Leia meet, they're just two people trying to get the heck out of dodge. It sets the tone for their relationship perfectly. I love that, despite the fact she's a princess and he's a smuggler, they seem to view each other as equals. Even during the award ceremony on Yavin. LOVES it. Besides, it's classically hilarious dialogue. "Looks like you've managed to cut off our only escape route." "Maybe you'd like it back in your cell, Your Highness." Perfection.

I have several favorites (the freezing chamber ranks very high of course and "the look" in the Bespin suite too), but there is one that always moved me deeply.

It's that quiet scene in the Falcon right after escaping the Star Destroyer, when they're dicussing their options and Han starts talking about Lando. Leia's small smile when he says "... scoundrel. You'll like him." is such a contrast to her behaviour from the first part of the movie! And then the rest of the exchange ("You have your moments...) and the way she squeezes his shoulders and gives him a peck on the cheek and the way he just accepts it, without looking smug, or bragging or anything... It's like the director's saying, Look, this is the way they REALLY are, when there're no third parties to judge them!

 

What is your favorite Han/Leia moment from the movies?

I have quite a few. What ranks high up on the list for me is the flight to Bespin because I feel it shows just how far they've come in their relationship. Also, as mentioned above, they no longer are fighting it between them. It just all clicks together.

I also like Return of the Jedi, with the scenes on Endor. It was great watching them work together as a team. It made me believe it would lead to other things for them, too. Like marriage.

That was back in the day before the EU, little did we know.

 

What is your favorite Han/Leia moment from the movies?

Hands down the ESB kiss. Classic. Can't be beat.

Hmm. My favourite H/L moment of all time...

Honestly, I love the final awards scene in ANH. Luke gives Leia a sweet and earnest smile and she smiles back. Han winks at her and she looks away with an expression of such contempt that I can't watch it without imagining her thinking, "Creepy b*st*rd!"

 

Um, this just made my bad day EXPONENTIALLY better!! Thank you sooo much LASOS, Golden_Jedi, Jade_Max, LadyPadme, and Tara!! The new Café is amazing, and I'm so excited to see it evolve!

What is your favorite Han/Leia moment from the movies?

Great question, LASOS! Mine isn't really a moment, it's more of...an amalgamation of moments...but I would have to say that their time in the Endor forest is my favorite. They go through the entire gamut of emotions, which I absolutely love. From Han's worry when Leia goes missing, to their elation when they're reunited, to the closeness they have in the Ewok hut, to the misunderstanding and comforting on the bridge, to the panic when Leia gets shot, and finally, to the amazing joy when everything works out in the end. What can I say? I'm a sucker for happy endings!!

 

His unnecessary chivalry when he thinks Leia and Luke are a thing.

As for H/L Fics... how bad am I to say that I occasionally write the couple, but rarely read them? I think Amsie's... er... Amidala_Skywalker's fics are the ones that come to mind when I think of H/L... they're in the index and in the archive... awesome stories.

 

The first fic that came to mind was Puggy's Acceptance. As I searched for in my history, I cam across a couple of others that I read earlier, bt this stands out as the most resonant.

I was shocked by the weight of the fic and desolation of the fractured relationship between Han and Leia. It is powerfully written and evocative. I highly reccommend a look.
