No, it's usually beef or veal. I used to have them made with an Indo bent, dipped in sambal paste rather than the traditional mustard.

I don't know what language that is, but it's classic.

    You start with the boterham:

Put butter on the boterham and then choose between

    a. meat or cheese
like for instance: filet americain! Now exactly what is American about that, I don't know. Minced raw beef. You can put onions on it. Or an egg. With mayonaise. Yum!

    b. sugar confections
    like for instance: hagelslag!

    Hup Holland!

Holland is pretty cool besties. They're laid back, the atmosphere is gezellig as ****, and people in Amsterdam only get cross if you're 2m away from a bike lane and they can ring their bell at you.

Plus you get Watto and Debo. Speaking of...

Debo, we need more Debo's Attic.

Yeah we used to have white bread, margarine and sprinkles as a kid at like friends birthday parties. And parents wondered why we were climbing up the walls

    You mean this?

Wonder if that was the combination of a lot of Dutch migrants following Indonesia's independence, and that hundreds-and-thousands were common thanks to the Brits?

Do our besties in the States have anything similar?

I imagine in Norway you just feast on whatever you capture when attacking non-Norwegians, Zapdos

I think about stuff we ate here as kids, epic, and.... a lot of it was awful. It has to be said. I mean, wouldn't trade growing up in the era we did for anything but the food... it wasn't always great.

    Fluoride in the water.

Plus at least in Sydney we had dental visits at school, and these as kids:

I wouldn't say the Dutch are laid-back. They are uptight, boorish, prone to mass hysteria, and so egocentric you could be killed on the street without anyone intervening. All those things that foreigners usually attribute to the Dutch do apply however to the Belgians.

I like Amsterdam--I live there--but it smells of beer and piss and it's turning into one huge café terrace.

Well, I *was* trying to give Holland a good rap.

Notice how I didn't mention anything being direct/blunt to the point of offending every non-Dutch person (to be fair, if people didn't want to be called stupid they would say or do stupid things), or inviting people to catch various diseases and die (my personal favourite = "sterf aan kanker")? Of course not! They never tell you this stuff on the tourist brochures.

    Though Belgium. Ew.

Is there a country besties you really want to visit but probably won't because lazy/war/expensive/war/too much effort?

I'd love to see Mongolia but the effort required effectively rules it out. Even with throat singing as an incentive.
