JCC new best friends club thread

It's a heat wave out here, so I'm just hoping the A/C at home doesn't break.



Got a rare Saturday (evening) off, so it'll be dinner & such with some of my dearest friends tonight... that'll be rather nice.

 

My son's 13 year old classmate was shot and killed yesterday on the west side of Chicago. **** guns.

 

I'm so sorry to hear that Ken. Condolences to your family and the young boy's family.

Jesus, that's horrible. I hope your son and the rest of his class get through this alright.

 

I didn't know the boy or his family, but my son had classes with him all year and is pretty shook up.

Thank you - we were at a swim meet yesterday and a lot of the kids were crying about it. Details about what happened are still sketchy though. Short answer: just another weekend in Chicago.

 

besties I need to apologize. My son and his friends were apparently victims of a social media hoax which I then amplified your way. Literally groups of kids crying at a swim meet yesterday. My wife and I checked up on it and found a shooting in the Austin neighborhood in Chicago Friday that seemed to match the facts (which tells you something about Chicago too), but it was a different teenage boy who doesn't go to my son's school.

Lots of people shot and killed in Chicago this weekend, but no one my son knows. Please accept my apologies for all the effort that went into condolences. I know this is going to cause me problems down the road when I get diagnosed with a terminal illness.
