I am looking at airline tickets to visit my sister in Italy. I wish it wasn't so expensive to fly into Florence. Rome is so much cheaper, but the trains scare me,especially after my family's police incident with that. We had a miscommunication with this coffee shop and they ended up calling the police on us because we told them we weren't paying for the wrong tickets.

It's a really long story, but we tried buying train tickets from a coffee shop and there was a miscommunication about where we were going and we told them we weren't going to pay for the wrong tickets. They freaked out and called the police. It was all sorted out, but I still have fears about making the same miscommunication error.

 

Bestie, that is not a train ticket, it's a cappuccino.

 

I have an interview with an AVP this afternoon. Any tips? I know it's not going to be super technical, but he's head of Finance so not sure how to prep for it. I'm just doing the normal stuff like weaknesses vs strengths, etc.

 

Honestly whoever wins we lose, so don't sweat it too much.

 

I think it would be better to go with the Alien.

 

I love reading AskAManager for this kind of thing. Here's one of her posts about 5 questions you'll be asked at your next interview, which has some good tips for how to handle stuff that's likely to come up. You can browse through her whole interview tag for other stuff, though. There's lots of good stuff in there, and some that's probably not relevant but is super interesting or horrifying or funny. Just waste your time reading a blog until the interview is what I'm saying.


EDIT: Oh, also! Make sure to ask questions at the end. If you can't think of any good ones, this list is a great source.

 

no idea what an AVP is, but make sure you know your CV, and be able to give lots of practical, real life examples to questions based on your experience. there's usually a bunch of 'tell me about a time where you had to solve a difficult problem with a client blahblahyblahaha' kinda Qs.

Yes, now I recall seeing CV/resume when applying for jobs.

Since the beginning of November I've spoken to the (1) recruiter, (2) the hiring manager, (3) a director that I wouldn't be answering to, but one I'd be working with, (4) an employee that I'd be working with and then (5) today I'm meeting with the AVP and (6) the director I've already spoken to back on Nov 15th to give me a tour.

Thanks to Thanksgiving and Christmas, this process has been very drawn out. I hope they're not stringing me along. I have a Skype interview with the hiring manager tomorrow morning so that should be the last of it. Maybe I'll get the offer then and there. Hopefully he likes my face.

How is an AVP a Head of Finance? Shouldn't that be an actual VP, or SVP, but probably not EVP or SEVP?
