Inorite? I'm not even supposed to brush my teeth for the first 24 hours. WHAT IS THIS?!

 

Well, I have a 5 day weekend coming up first week of July. I was almost certain I wasn't going to get that Thursday and Friday approved, but it happened very last minute, found out on Monday. I haven't had that many days off in a row since....I graduated college the first time in 2014? What do I do with my time off, besties?

 

Get roaring drunk, impulsively rob a bank, and then when the police come steal an ambulance and lead them on a high-speed chase through four states. When the caltrops finally shred your tires, leap out of the ambulance aggressively brandishing a defibrillator, and die in a hail of gunfire.

Wait--no. Anything BUT that. That's what I meant.

 

So throwing a rave is still on the table!

 

Is there a reason you requested those days off in the first place?

 

Probably because the 4th is Wednesday.

 

Right, and I agree a day off in the middle of the week is dumb so extending it makes sense like taking off the Friday before a Monday holiday like Memorial Day or Labor Day to have a nice four day weekend. Typically if I ask for days off, I have somewhat of an idea of what to do with them and I was just wondering if you had an original plan @I Are The Internets

 

My next set of vacation days will be for Vegas in August... rather excited for that.

I am staying in Chicago, but I'm working at a swim meet all weekend long. It will be my fifteenth consecutive year of working this meet during Father's Day weekend. My son missed one year, but we worked the event anyway. I've done every job there is at a swim meet except for coaching, ive run the computer, the timing console, done admissions and concessions, been the volunteeer coordinator and the meet marshall (how I loved twirling my baton) and the touchpad setup guy.

But this year is special. I'm in a glass booth, doing the announcing. So I've made myself a plaque commemorating my years of volunteering, and I'm going to present it to myself at the meet over the loudspeaker. There's a lock on the door. No one will be able to stop me from presenting myself the award and making my extremely poignant and entertaining acceptance speech. There will be laughter, and some tears too, but mostly a lot of knocking at the control room door.

 

It would be funny if you established from the beginning of the meet that there are a pair of announcers in the booth and you did two different voices so when it's time for the award presentation it'll be one voice giving the award to the other voice.

 

My announcer voice is different. I get all close in on the cheap dynamic microphone to take advantage of the proximity effect. Announcements like "The timers meeting will take place next to the off brand potato chip vending machine in 12 minutes," with those nice bass tones is something special to hear, believe me.

To be fair...

 

The paradoxical brilliance of wub&c. is that it means "I'm in constant pain and want to die," which is roughly what I feel every time I see it written out or hear it spoken aloud.

 

I love that the genesis behind it was that Rick was supposed to do Curly's Three Stooges bit of "Whoop Whoop Whoop Whoop" and spin on the floor and Justin Roiland, possibly drunk while voice recording, made it something unique and it evolved from there. Thankfully it hasn't been prominent in Season 3 that I can recall, so you should be okay to enjoy that season at your leisure.
