I mean, come on, seeing an R rated movie? I did that when I was, like, 14.

 

Saw my first rated R (T2!) around 9-10 years old.

 

When I was 9 we were about to go on a trip to Alaska, so my parents showed me my first R-rated movie... The Edge.

Yes, they showed me a terrifying movie about a bear that stalks and eats people in Alaska. To prepare me for hiking around Alaska.

 

Great movie, though.

 

Wow, so you literally got the Marge Simpson treatment? Amazing.

 

Basically. I mean, it got me to make sure to wear my bear bells when we went hiking, that's for sure.

It is a great movie. I don't think I appreciated the complex psychology of it all when I was 9, though. Mostly I was focused on the bear eating people alive thing...

 

I saw The Thing From Another World when I was 9. Have not recovered yet.

So I made a brochure for an NGO about a project in Ethiopia. It's for an event over there, so they're printing it over there too.
I'm sending my file off to Ethiopia. By WeTransfer. It's relatively small, 40MB.

They've already tried downloading it all day, to no avail. They hope to have a better chance now, after working hours.

 

I heard an interesting statistic the other day. The amount of internet traffic for the whole year in 1993 is the same amount we do in an hour today.

 

I remember taking an hour to download a song. But it's crude to compare Ethiopia to us in the 20th century. We had pavements.

 

I think they're on the same server as me .

 

This is where I'd consider satellite-based internet solutions to be really exciting if I didn't think their distribution and implementation were going to be total ass.

It's 9PM, she hasn't finished the download yet, but has to go home now because it's too dangerous outside when it's dark.

 

I was just walking home from the shops, and two cats decided to start a fight in the middle of the road. In front of an oncoming, speeding car. I leapt out to save them, and got hit for my troubles.

Why are animals so dumb? And why do I love them so much?

 

Nothing that an icepack can't heal! Just glad the little feline fighters can live to fight again another day. Hopefully not in the middle of the road.
