Scott has been a really bad film maker for years now. Fresh off trying to recapture his Gladiator glory (Robin Hood garbage), he's now doing Blade Runner.

I actually am looking forward to Prometheus because Fassbender is in it.

I think it's cool he rehashes his own films tbh, but it's rare to see someone doing it with so many of their films.

I'm actually all for continuing franchises/remakes as long as the films are good. However, the original Blade Runner was complete and utter bobbins, so I doubt this has much chance of being any good. It's his worst film apart from Hannibal

BTW Watchmen was like Blade Runner but eleven times worse

I wonder whether Harrison will return?

Given his highly critical remarks about Blade Runner over the years, I think not. ;)

Last I heard, Daniel Craig was the rumored replacement for Harrison Ford.

Not a big Ridley Scott or Blade Runner fan. I can watch Black Hawk Down or Legend, though.

I used to love Blade Runner, but I kind of got tired of it over time. However, I would actually be interested to see a new installment directed by Scott. From that article I gather this is rumored to be another episode (prequel or sequel), as opposed to a remake or reboot. And I can see Daniel Craig doing well portraying Deckard, if that turns out to be true.

I think Craig would be better in Rutger Hauer's role.

    I can't believe I'm saying this, but...

I agree with darth_boy on this issue.

Blade Runner is not a bad film, though I've lost track of which version is meant to be definitive now since there have been so many.
Not sure where he can go with the story though, did the book have a sequel?

Alien & Gladiator are still Scott's best films IMO, I hope Promethius will be good (better than the AVP movies anyway).

My hope is that like Prometheus this is not so much a sequel or prequel but taking place in the same universe. 2019 NY perhaps?

If he makes a Deckard sequel I say he gets Ford again, and if Ford is too old looking just make use of the CGI and young him back up or make use of his age as part of the answer as to wether or not Deckard was a replicant who has a limited lifespan. From all I read Deckard is supposed to be a replicant.

I like Hannibal and have watched it many times. I just wish Foster had stayed with the role. I did not see Robin Hood yet.

Hannibal is good because Hopkins is awesome, but it's not a patch on Silence of the Lambs.

SotL is better. Hannibal has one or two minor gripes i could throw at it but it is otherwise awesome. All the Florence parts are incredible.

Vegas odds would have Harrison Ford portraying Han Solo again before playing Decker in another Blade Runner film. It's just not going to happen.

    Is today opposite day?

Also, this: "Why is "Blade Runner" such a painfully good movie?!"

Blade Runner isn't a horribly bad film, but it's also not a very good film. It was more "bleh" than "OMG AMAZING BEST SCI-FI EVARRR." (I saw the "Final Cut.") I was disappointed by the nonsensical, confusing premise. I didn't find myself compelled by the "mystery" behind Deckard's true nature because a) it came from the nonsense about replicants and b) it simply wasn't explored enough within the film and c) it doesn't appear to matter much either way and d) the Final Cut makes the answer pretty clear. The acting is almost universally bad; I could see Harrison holding the phone. The film is too quiet and the soundtrack sounds dated when it picks up. The dystopian and "cyberpunk" (thanks Wikipedia) world is a bit too cartoonish and extreme for my tastes, though I suppose that may be because the idea had already been worn thin by other works.

I did enjoy the cinematography and the effects. :p

blade runner, whether anyone here likes it or not, is a certified sci fi classic.

so, aside from robin hood, which was totally scott's fault for being terrible, what bad films has he made?

Prometheus is going to rock for a whole lot more reasons than just fassbender, btw.

GI Jane was good when it saw it long ago despite being over the top. I have only seen it the one time.

Those other two I have not seen.

The only Scott film I've liked is Alien.
