I was just about to post on this...I think that TAS' page count actually went up, though.

From what I've heard, though, some of the later authors in the NJO have written massive books, so that's a good sign.

    300+ pages is big enough

And besides, as Yoda said, size matters not. It aint what you do, it's the way that you do it. Quality not Quantity. Judge me by my size do you. And Similar :)

Personally, I like the shorter books more than the long ones. They're easier to read and plus, if you need more, just write another book

I'd like to see the first 700+pg book written in the STAR WARS EU. That would be cool.

large volumes tend to use more effort, while smaller books are weaker in plotlines. this is not strictly true, especially in an ongoing story, but short plots are just boring.

The page counts in the DRIN mean less than nothing. In rare cases (DT) they are exactly right in other cases (BP) they are close to 100 pages off. TAS has changed as I believe has DJ.

Well think about conquest and rebirth, the last two NJO paperbacks...they wre like 220 pages.

So 100 more pages is a definite improvement.

I remember when I, Jedi came out it was the longest SW book...until a few months later Vision of the Future came out. Now Star by Star holds the mark, and I somehow doubt it will be eclipsed for at least about 2 years.

i agree that quality matters more than quantity, but i still much prefer very long books...a good length star wars book needs at least 400 pages, IMO...

i've heard that stover writes long books, at least...

I agree with the whole quality over quantity thing, but I also think most of the books could stand to be a little longer. For example, TAS is only 350 or so pages, and a hrdcover at that! WTF ??? Ah, well, at least DJ is a bit longer than your average ppback. Hopefully Mastadge is indeed correct about TAS' page count going up.
