Meeting with Ben before ANH isn't a big deal... Learning that Ben was an old friend of Anakin's has had some people talking. In the movie, Luke is surprised to hear Obi-Wan knew his father, when talking with Uncle Owen... But there's technically nothing that says he didn't know Ben knew his father, and then easily reconciled the issue when he found out Ben and Obi-Wan were the same person. The question would then be why didn't he pursue knowledge of his dad from Ben before ANH, and the answer's probably to do with Owen telling him not to listen to that old wizard.

Yeah, he knows and likes Ben. Owen would just much rather he didn't.

Though, I did have to double check to see if Luke already knew that Ben knew his father (he did).

He didn't know until the dinner scene in ANH

OWEN: I don't think he exists anymore he died about the same time as your father
LUKE: He knew my Father?!
OWEN: I told you to forget it

 

Ah, I didn't think to check that scene! Good catch.

I can't wait to rewatch the OT in the build-up to TFA.

But there's still confusion on Luke's part as to whether whether Ben is Obi Wan. He likely met Ben before, but had no idea of his true identity.

Luke says to Ben--Do you know him (referring to Obi Wan)?

Ben says--Of course I know him. He's me.

 

Yes. As far as Luke was concerned Obi-Wan and Ben just shared the same surname.

 

Most of what's being added to the Korean Webtoon is from the Radio Dramas.

The Radio Dramas are also being used in the "Journey to the Force Awakens" young adult novels. There are lines directly out of Brian Daley's script being used in the Princess Leia book, for example.

 

That's pretty cool. Are those books out yet?

 

I don't think so. Someone linked me to a preview of the Leia book, and yeah - a lot of stuff straight out of the Radio Drama.

 

"Droid, come here!"... so much for Bail ever telling Leia to rely on those two droids specifically, or her ever befriending them before ANH. R2 was just in the right place at the right time, a random astromech on her ship Leia stumbled across.

 

Kind of like in TPM. Besides, Bail had their memory's wiped at the end of ROTS without a second thought. So I saw no evidence that he was particularly attached to them or saw them as "special" in any way.
