Meet "Shannon," a 1-1/2 year old cream tortie Siamese (mix?) who found her new home today. She's got very blue eyes (that photo red), a very sweet and inquisitive personality. She snuggles and she's active. Her short, soft, silky fur reminds me of a certain ice cream flavor, but long names would probably be shortened (well, every cat I've had has had at least 20 "unofficial" names besides the formal one). I kind of lean to Dulce, Biscotti or Chamois {Chamoiselle} (except I'm not sure about shortening to Chammie since my last cat was Sam {Sammy} and this cat is not a replacement for Sam, but his successor). She has a very soft "mrrr" meow, a loud motor of a purr, and the funniest, soft "growl" that sounds like a soft rumble if something startles her (she does not scare easy) and she's very, very social.
As I said in the other thread: I have cried enough tears over the last few weeks... please do not diminish my affection for him. Perhaps you were only making an observation, but I'm not in a mood to think someone is questioning my devotion to Sam if that IS what you meant. The new cat is just added to my heart, not replacing Sam there.
Oh, Val, I just found this, and I'm so happy you found a new family member. She is beautiful! And I KNOW you're not "replacing" Sam, just like my Misi could never replace Isaiah and Little One, our two little family members we had to say good bye to after 18 years (they died two years apart. Male and female cats). They all have such different personalities...and they're every bit as much family members as humans. I'm so happy for you, and I'll look at the names, but choose the name that speaks most to you concerning your new friend. She's going to have that name for a long time.
I like Cinnamon (could lead to caribbean jokes ), but Chammie works too. And it's perfectly fine to get a new pet so soon. When one of my dogs was approaching 16 and in failing health, we got a puppy to help with the transition, for both of us. This showed my older dog that we would be in good hands once he was gone, and I think that really comforted him in his last days. It's all about loving and healing.
I like Dulce, reminds me of my favorite ice cream at work. edit: No idea why I quoted you, it was completely by mistake.
I'll go for Redeye....Like the clone trooper in 501st.... He's sooooooo cute, Val! Greate to hear that you have found a such cute cat to replace Sam.
Good, no choices for Billy. That's the name of my cat, darn it! (I never realized until shortly after I named him that I inadvertently named him after my maternal grandfather, but since he liked cats, I don't think he would've minded.)
Even though you say its a loving cat, the photos contradict your claim edit: Cinnamon, ha. I chose for your cat Biscotti. I liked it.
