Oddly enough, I was just about to post this.

Anyhow: far and away, the highlight of the week is the Captain America omnibus. By FAR. AMAZING stuff. Totally worth the price tag.

I really didn't care for WWH. The art felt off and the entire story seemed...dumb somehow.

I enjoyed New X-Men this week. The last arc was non-stop action and it was nice to get a breather as well as get to know some of the other kids in the school who have previously only been background characters. I especially liked the kids trying to figure out who the youngest mutant in the world was. It reminded me of "Baby Diego" in Children of Men. And the Endangered Species section actually held my intrest this week!

Edit: In World War Hulk, did anyone else find it difficult to tell Tony Stark and Dr. Strange apart when they were down in the arena? Without their costume's they look way to similar.

The art in WWH continues to be weak, but the story is great. I'd rather good story and bad art than bad story and good art. Mind you, I prefer both to be good.

Speaking of which, everyone who hasn't run out to buy Captain America 1-25 omnibus can DIAF.

    That whole scene was confusing.

I liked seeing Strange kicking Hulk's ass though. Even if was for only like 2 panels. :p

There is a thread in Amph.

I liked Annihilation the first time around, but I haven't read any of Conquest yet. I kind of wish they had given us more breathing room between the two events (I wish that in general for all these events :p), but I guess they wanted to use the momentum.

Disclaimer: There's probably many other great comics, I just can't afford them all. :p

    He's Big, Green and Mean...

World War Hulk #4 (of 5): "Let The Worlds Within And The Worlds Without Tremble In Their Orbits"

This is alright. But it doesn't grab me as much as a huge event should. Probably because it doesn't appear as if this will have any long lasting affect on the MU (Although with Marvel's ******-up continuity who can be sure?) JRjr's art didn't bother me so much in this issue, except during the gladitorial scene where it was a struggle to tell Tony and Strange apart. Basically two fight scenes, this book pretty much delivers what it promises, and hey Sentry will finally do something! Perfectly decent, although it lacks that certain...something, to me anyway. 7/10

Countdown to Crisises on Multiple Worlds at War III:

Green Arrow and Black Canary Wedding Special: "And They Said It Wouldn't Last"

Bad play DC. I was rather enjoying this for the first 9/10's of it or so. It was a perfectly sweet, charming wedding issue, with the standard villain fight crashing the party and the happy resolution. Until the end. I'm not going to spoil it, but suffice it to say it pretty much ruined everything that had happened so far. I realize they want me to buy #1 of Green Arrow/Black Canary next month but ticking me off isn't the way to do it. Nice art at least. 8/10 until the end, which drags it to a 3/10

    Countdown #32: "Girls Gone Wild"

How many versions of the bachelorette party is that now? Also, I get it. Piper is gay. There's no need to keep having him be all like "OMG HOT DUDE DANCERS!" Otherwise, the rogues were again the highlight, while the rest was kinda blah. A main villian finally makes their big appearance at the end, so we'll see what this leads to in the weeks to come. Solid, yet unspectacular. 5/10

BOOK OF THE WEEK: Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Parallax: "Fearful Symmetry"

We get here a kind of secondary perspective on Kyleallax's actions throughout the first half of the SCW, from Kyle himself. Trapped in his own mind, he confronts Parallax and his fears, with an ending that has to give Kyle fans hope (had Countdown not already kind of spoiled it, but that's a whole 'nother tangent). Great art, and a truly great exploration of what makes Kyle a hero, makes this a great read. If you're looking for mucho action like the main titles have had during SCW then you'll be disappointed but otherwise, very recommended. 9/10
