Came across this on Rebelscum and thought I'd share it. Apparently it's been in the works for quite some time. The teaser for it was posted on Youtube back in '11 and promises an August '12 release.

X-Ray FIlms and Futurious Industries are thrilled to announce that Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys will be available for purchase on January 14, 2014. The documentary is approximately 70 minutes long, and features interviews with numerous Star Wars collectors, authors, experts, and former Kenner designers.

The DVD also includes more than 40 minutes of extras:
    • The Art and Science of Kenner Prototypes
    • Small Toys, Giant Disaster: The Star Wars Micro Line
    • Steve Sansweet: The Secret Origin of a Record Setting Collector
    • Know Your Toy Lightsaber!

Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys is Region 0, meaning it will play on any DVD player in the world.

Currently the only place to buy it is through the website (I'm always unsure about directly linking to a commerce-based site, but if you Google "Plastic Galaxy" it's the first hit). The guy behind it actually posted on his Facebook feed today, apologizing for the slow delivery times. It seems like he's been handling this all him self. But it sounds like that by week's end he'll have a deal in place for it to ship directly from the warehouse, speeding up delivery times.
