A sock is an extra screen-name. If you registered another name and posted on it while you posted on the name you're on now, that would be considered a sock. There isn't exactly anything wrong with having socks, but it is against this forum policy to post introduction threads or be adopted under a sock name. Also posting over and over again with different socks would be considered spam, just like if you posted a bunch of posts after one another under the same name.

Anyway, a lot of meanings of certain words and things can be found in the Glossary. Hope that helped.

You mean why it makes sense to put users into your WUL?
It's easy. You can get to their profile much faster.
For example you made a friend on the boards and want to send him a PM. If he's on your WUL, you can send him a PM within three clicks. But if he isn't on your WUL, you have to search for one of his posts or search through the "search user" feature.

I hope that explains your question.
