I couldn't order mine today as planned, but I'll get to for my birthday...only about two weeks to go. Hopefully there'll be one left with my name on it.

Actually, I live in the same town as Birr.

I just ordered my AT-AT about an hour ago! WOOHOO! Now we just need to figure out where to put it...since we're still trying to decide where Jabba's Palace goes...

I hope these wonderful sets stick around for a while. I want to pay the truck off before I play with toys.

 

Every set is sold for 2 years, and then discontinued. That's the LEGO way. if it's really popular they bring it back for a while, like they did with the Millenium Falcon.

 

TK: Like you I am running out of room for my Star Wars Legos. I have one bookcase full of them and my Star Destroyer is in the living room. I have NO idea where I'm gonna put the Gungan Sub I just got or the AT-AT for that matter!

Hee hee. Thanx. I might get the Star Destroyer sometime this summer. I've also got a Stormtrooper helmet planned out on graph paper that I'm gonna try to build once I've got an extra $100-200 that I can blow on bulk bricks. If it turns out cool, I might try a life-size E-11.

I was about to hunt down a 9754 Dark Side Developer Kit (AT-AT), but I'd rather have the "real" LEGO AT-AT.

 

So...how much does the Star Destroyer weigh? In the event we can actually swing getting it around the end of the summer, I gotta find someplace to put it where our 2-yr-old little girl won't destroy it.

 

It weighs 5-10 pounds, I don't wanna risk lifting it cause last time I did that I spent twenty minutes repairing the damage I did.

It is very large and requires quite a bit of space. More than any other lego set I've seen. Mine sits on a table all by itself until I can make a display case for it. Believe me, find someplace well out of reach and someplace pretty large to put it on.

BTW, the only thing that keeps my 5 year-old away from mine is a really good Gollum impression complete with hissing and bugged eyes.

"NO!!! I came to me!! My LOVE, my PRECIOUSSSSSSSS! You will not touch it with your grubby fingees or sticky lipses! The PRECIOUSSSSSS must stay where it is."

HA, the same thing happened to me when I tried to move mine! It was just as well, I took the time and put in some of the pieces I had left over. Apparently they weren't extra. I think I'm going to build a glass gase for mine and make it into a coffee table.

 

That sounds really cool!

I'm making a plexiglass and wood display case for mine lined on the back pannel, sides, and bottom with star field fabric. It will also have a hinged top w/ lock so that if it needs to be removed it can be.

Haven't bought the materials yet.

It's comforting knowing that I won't be the only one with whacko kids.

 

If only I can find a way to make it into a hood ornament! It would double the value of my car.

Me too. Bulk LEGO cost of that AT-AT is probably about the same as a Star Destroyer...and I need my Star Destroyer first.
