I would have been keener to see it if it wasn't on a Wednesday. At 7pm I'd rather be at home... yep, I'm that lazy.

Sure, I like Raiders. Cool flick.

If it was Last Crusade and Spielberg taling, Id be in. But i dont care about Karen Allen.

Is Kevin Smith coming out for Zach and Miri? Id go to that!

Im not going for Karen Allen. Im going to see Raiders on the big screen!

Ahah if Kevin Smith came out again, that would be a blast. That Clerks 2 Screening was absolutly brilliant.
I'm hoping to catch Zach and Miri will still be playing whilst I'm over in NY in December

Yeah, I've been tracking Zack & Miri since Clerks 2 came out - that's the only movie left this year that I'm looking forward to. No news about Smith coming to Australia for another Q & A, the local release is pegged at mid-January.

Quantum and Solace: Right up there with Licence to Kill and Never say never again (with honourable mentions to Die Another Day).

I enjoyed it, just not as much as Casino Royale. Solid 3 stars!

Shad, when was the last time you liked a movie :p

The Dark Knight has been the only movie I've really enjoyed this year.

And even that was a forced decision.

    ;)

Quantum of Solice: Solid, well acted, and leaves things open for a compelling 'final' chapter in this particular story arc.

i liked QOS as well. I think it was about on Par with Casino. Ive heard people mention they think it is slower; clearly the 20 minute poker game and 10 minutes of him lolling around recovering later in the flick have been forgotten.

The poker game is exactly what I missed in QOS. It was the slow part of the film, but was more entertaining a few of the action scenes in QOS. That poker game was like all mental action :p

I'm sitting on the fence about QOS, it had some brilliant moments, but on the whole I'm not convinced it was a good BOND film...

really at the moment they are pushing Bond to emulate the look and feel of Bourne and it is not quite working

    Hey all!

So Ive been over in NY for about 3 weeks now, and have seen a ton of flicks, so thought I might just give some thoughts:

    - Zach and Miri Make a Porno --- This was alot of fun. I was still spaced out from the flight when I saw this, but has some great one liners, and some very Clerks 2 'comedy of the heart' etc. Lots of fun!

    - Role Models --- This was also pretty good, with a fantastic ending scene featuring LARP (google it). The kid who played Sean William Scott's 'Lil brother' in the film is absolutly hilarious. Great to hear a 7 year old cursing his head off

    - Gran Torino --- Eastwood was absolutly fantastic in this. Easily one of the most likable characters this year. Definetly in my top 10 for 2008

    - Slumdog Millionaire --- I walked into this knowing almost nothing and came out with proberbly my 3rd favourite film of the year. This was absolutly brilliant. I don't know much about Indian films, but the cast were great, and should definetly get some attention. Can't say enough good words about this flick. Harsh at times, but pays off!

    - Bolt 3D --- I thought this was pretty average. More Pixar please. 3D was nice!

    - The Wrestler --- Mickey Rourke turns his career around with an absolutly fantastic acting role here, in the harsh and sometimes brutal story. Will interest anybody who enjoyed the wrestling scene in their younger days, or anybody willing to give Mickey Rourke a chance to prove himself. You won't be disappointed.

    - Valkyrie --- Bryan Singers suspense thriller was pretty darn good. The thing that most sucked is that your rooting for Tom Cruise and co, even though you know how it all ends. Suspensful at times, but generally a fantastically done thriller!!

The Day the Earth Stood Still:

I never figured the end of the world as we know it could be so boring.

Normally I'd call Shad a grumpy old man when it comes to his movie reviews, but I've got to agree with him on this one. It tries to be a movie with an important message, only I can't imagine they used much of the film's $80M budget to off-set their carbon emissions.

I didnt hate the Day the Earth Stood still as much as many others did, but it wasnt great. Very by the numbers.

Saw Quarantine, which was awesome. Nice little suspense flick, with some cool "First person" camerawork that I'm a big fan of.

i quite liked the day the earth stood still, i dont deny it could have been done a lot better but i still didnt mind it.

i didnt mind Bond (forgive me ive been overseas only saw it recently). as far as a bond movie goes it wasnt very good imo but as far as a modern day action film goes it was sweet.

i also saw Inkheart and was pleasantly surprised.

I saw Role Models on the weekend. I sure hope my nephews don't see it, and that's not because of the MA-rated content; I just don't to get smacked in the face for no reason.

I really enjoyed the book, and found the movie enjoyable, but I felt as I was just comparing it to the book the whole time. I'm looking forward to seeing it again knowing whats in and whats not.

mauls-menace, I'd also love to see the 6th Harry Potter movie. Have you seen the trailer for it?

I've seen Quantum of Solace, and I thought it was so-so. There was a lot of action, but somehow I found the characters less interesting than the ones in Casino Royale.
    -----------------------------
    Spoilers for Quantum of Solace:

I liked the main female lead Camille, but I found Agent Fields to be a stereotypical Bond girl, and less interesting.
