I think you guys locked the wrong thread and let the wrong one go on. It's just logical. Why have the thread for the new novel that has 15 pages of speculation on random topics rather than a new thread. It makes no sense. Just sayin
It always says that on Amazon before they actually have a clue how long the book really is. Either 280 or 320 pages. It doesn't mean anything. Don't count on that. I'll just be happy if we have an EU next year. Seriously, I think the fact that LOTF and FOTJ were all hardcover freed up some stand alones to be paperback. Or they just want more money from us and think they can get it. Well, we'll show them!
Oh people will buy it for several reasons: They want to read it all OR it Has Darth Maul who was resurrected a year ago.
I'm thinking that at least one Rebels books will be released by the end of the year. Because there are just too few books announced for this year.
That would be nice. This Maul book is listed on Amazon as coming out on Jan 14, 2014. I'd hate for Kenobi, in September, to be the last book of the year.
I forget her name, but the author of the Leia novel indicated that it would be released late this year recently.
I'll be honest, the entire time this new novel was an unknown, I'd been crossing fingers and anything else that could be crossed in the hope that the reveal would be Matthew Stover and Imperial Commando 2. With the reveal that this is anything but, I can't help but feel disappointed. But to consider it on it's own... I don't know. I like Maul, I've always liked Maul, even his TCW resurrection. However, there's just something about Maul in prison that doesn't particularly speak to me. I've never been one of those fans that looks down on chronologically earlier material just because I already know where the character is headed, but even still, I can't help wondering what Maul could accomplish of any significance in this story. Cynically, or perhaps realistically, I know this is most likely just an attempt to ride the coattails of Maul's resurgence in popularity, but will I get a character-based adventure of an outing with an enjoyable character...or a shallow "Maul kills everything" cash-in? I suppose I won't say "Skip it" just yet, but I'll be waiting for more information before I consider getting it.
Well, we now know Maul is scared of Sidious, so maybe he spends his time in jail trying to escape his master's whacking stick. HEEEEERE'S SIDDY!!!
Six books, actually. Scoundrels, The Last Jedi, Crucible, Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void, Kenobi, and the Leia book. It would have been seven, but Lockdown got pushed back a month.
It was pushed back to the first week of January. In fact, the first day. Happy New Year from Timothy Zahn.
