That explains why Maul was half-crazed when Savage found him. He had way too much to drink.

    At any rate... that spoiler.

I was hoping to get a look at Maul's lower back tattoo. It's always just off screen or covered in shadow.

If Palpatine made it, it's "Kick me" in Aurebesh.

And I am more and more completely uninterested in this book, and what TCW did has a lot to do with that.

Ah I actually think it sounds pretty interesting, and a lot more like something in the direction of Death Troopers then Red Harvest.

Doesn't what TCW did have a lot to do with it existing at all?

That's exactly my point, since apparently Lucas had a carte blanche to do whatever he wanted, including pointless have it so Maul survived Naboo for no good reason. I don't care if Star Wars is Lucas' universe, because he isn't always right. And because of these things, I am sick and tired of Maul, and I like the character, though I am not really familiar with him beyond TPM. I do have Darth Plagueis, but the inclusion of Maul's new backstory, though brief by what I saw when I perused it, has put me off reading it somewhat, that and I want to read Darth Maul: Saboteur and Cloak of Deception to get the full effect of Luceno's continuity references and the whole lead up to TPM.

The Wrath of Darth Maul may be of interest. While it repeats a lot of the content of Star Wars Episode I Journal: Darth Maul, it does have new scenes, and it's interesting to see Maul's early training by Darth Sidious. Though it does start and end on the junk planet with TCW Maul, the vast majority of the book is pre-TPM.

Rereading the summary once again, I'm starting to worry this book might detract from Plagueis as a character. Granted a summary's not much to go on, but there's something seemingly petty about him having any interest in Maul's upbringing.

Zeta1127 If you want to know more about Maul and get a feel for the character read Shadow Hunter.

I meant Shadow Hunter anyway, not Saboteur, and besides, Saboteur is in the paperback edition of Shadow Hunter and its not like I wouldn't want to read Saboteur anyway. Its not that difficult to confuse them with their similar titles and both being about Maul.

Or if not meditating, then completing work on the graciously curved speeder bike he had named Bloodfin or the droid called C-3PX, or perfecting his skill at using the wrist-mounted projectile launcher known as the lanvarok. -p300

I definitely got the impression from the novel that Plagueis thought Maul was beneath his notice.

I think Maul would be worthy of Plagueis' notice in the same way that Ventress was worthy of Sidious'.

You mean he ignores him until some retcons in a TV show come along and Plagueis suddenly decides he needs to die a fiery death? New retcon: Maul will get cut in half in this novel and go into hiding, and the Sith in TPM is actually Maul's third brother, Wilde, who will actually die when cut in half.

Except Sidious decieved Plagueis about what Maul truly was.
